And if they're marking, you'll usually see it ....b/c even though they do lift their leg and nothing comes out (b/c there's only so much in there at a time, I guess), sometimes they'll dribble a little. Usually I find it at corners...or against specific things, like a big urn I've got....Madison sort of has his favorite places to mark. Usually it's just a little bit of urine but it's still annoying. Max never did mark once he was housetrained and he was neutered early on, so I think that helps a lot. Plus, no other boy dogs in particular at our house. I have to say though, that when we went to another friend's house, who has 3 little male dogs, who ALL mark and pee all over (she's got housestaff to go behind them to clean:rolleyes:), that Max would lift his leg right behind one of the others, so it's definitely a territorial issue. He would do it there, but he'd never do it here. So, I try to keep an eye on him when he's at other people's houses.
And sometimes if they DO mark, they will not do it after being neutered, (that's what I'm hoping for with Madison), or it will be at least, less than before. But the thing with them lifting their leg when they're outdoors and nothing coming out has nothing to do with being neutered; it's just b/c they've already peed everything out that's in there for the time being, LOL.
I was just like you when I first got Max b/c I'd NEVER had a dog before (had a couple when I was little, but they didnt' seem to stick around for long before my parents tired of them) and didn't know one single thing about them. YT is so great for just about anything you've got a question about, so don't feel dumb for asking anything. We've all been there! |
