My ex's Yorkie had her pups! Part 2 Some of you may recall me posting on here last fall. My ex's Yorkie was expecting a litter and my ex really wanted me to have one of the pups. She wound up losing two litters or going through two false pregnancies or some combination thereof so, after getting my hopes up, no puppy. Well, my son called me yesterday to tell me that their Yorkie had a litter. She'd really been pregnant this time and my ex had sworn my kids to secrecy so as not to get my hopes up. The father is huge for a Yorkie. Easily the largest I've ever seen. The mother is fairly small. She had a litter of three, two males and a little female that didn't make it. That hurt as I had my heart set on a little female. I've always thought females had a much better temperament. Still, I've wanted another pup since our divorce and she really wants to give me one so who am I to be picky? I'm sure I'll love him as much as any other pup I've ever had. Now the hard part is waiting to bring him home in twelve weeks. Do we really need to wait twelve weeks with Yorkies? One week should do it, right? Just kidding. Hopefully the three months will fly by quickly and my ex said I could come by to visit and bond. I've had a long list of names since last fall but I've narrowed the boy names down to Ozzie or Jackson. I'm really leaning towards Jackson. I took a few photos of Jackson and his brother today. I got a little too close and most of them were a little out of focus but there are a few decent shots. I'll have to try to post some photos tomorrow. - Byron Followell |
Actually, I have read quite a few posts that say males are more loving. I know lots of people like females because it is sooooo fun to dress them up. I'm not into that but I certainly love to look at pics. Make me smile.:) |
here's a post about your question: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...le-female.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...e-yorkies.html |
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww congrats!!! Im sooooooooooooooooooooo excited for you!!! :) cant wait to see pics!!! |
So glad you are finally getting a puppy. I don't know how they kept it from you all that time. Well I was the same way about a female and still after 3 females not having a male yet. But so many others have said they prefer the males over the females they are the calmer ones. So guess you have to just love them no matter what the sex is. I like the name Jackson also its very strong and tough......he will be great. Get the pictures to us and I'm so happy for you. What a good ex to give you a puppy. |
A pre congratulations to you on your new yorkie baby. We are very anxious to see pics of him now and as he grows in the coming weeks and months until he comes home to you. I hope all goes well with this litter and I hope the 12 weeks just fly by for you! |
I do find my male to be a lot more loving then the females, they seem to be more tempermental..... |
Aww Congrats on your new little guy! 12 weeks will be over before you know it and your little Jackson will be home in your arms! Can't wait to see some pics :) |
:aimeeyork That is very exciting! Little Jackson will have plenty of TLC, and make a wonderful pet for you! :aimeeyork I have a little female, and not a male yet, so I do not know about the differences in temperament. My Suzi is a little nutty though, however, absolutely wonderful:D 12 weeks is the ideal time to bring him home. I got Suzi at 8weeks, without knowing any better:aimeeyork |
My boy Rambeau is so not affectionate, not like my sweet Lupie, she loved to cuddle. Rambeau just wants down all of the time. Melissa |
There is no set "rule" as to which is more loving. Each dog has its own personality and and level of neediness. Something a vet told me once is that they don't call the female a "bitch" for no reason! ;) |
I posted a few photos of Jackson and one of him and his brother in the photos forum. Those little black rats are sooooo adorable! - Byron http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...e-jackson.html |
Jackson is going to be the joy of your life. My Skeeter (Now 4 months old) is a lot more affectionate than Adie was but he is also all boy! I love him to death. Congrats! |
Congrats on your new little addition Jackson! He is precious! |
