be considerate of your breeder Some of us truly pour our hearts and souls into our breeding and try our best to send our puppies out into the world with the most carefully selected people we can find. One very special puppy left my home three weeks ago with a seemingly lovely woman who made lots of promises about staying in touch. Well, other than an email the next day to day everything was fine, there's been no word and no answer to my own email a couple of days ago. She knew this puppy was one whose progress I was very interested in. I don't want to interfere in their lives, but it would be nice to know her vet checkup was OK, etc. To those of you who took the trouble to select a responsible breeder, his/her love for that puppy most likely didn't end when you left with it. Please keep in touch. |
I got KiKi in February and I send regular updates and pictures every few weeks... |

I can repect that I agree with you. I did'nt get my Aiden at the best place, but I've called her and e-mailed her some updates on him. I don't get any responces, but I've made the attempt to keep in touch. I truley hated the enviroment from which he was in. Not clean or in any order, dogs and cats everywhere, but in there own way they loved their animals.:aimeeyork |
Awe, I'm sorry to hear she hasn't kept in touch, that's gotta be so sad for you. Hopefully you hear back from her soon. My brother just purchased a bulldog pup here about a month and a half ago, he doesn't have a digital camera so I have been taking pics of his pup and sending off to the breeder. He had Cherry eye in both eyes very badly and my brother has already had the surgery done to correct this, I thought the breeder would be interested in knowing how he came through and to see what his beautiful eyes look like now. Out of common courtesy and knowing if it was me, I'd want to know how the pup adjusted and how he was doing, I sent a bunch of pics off to her, she never replied back this time, I've kinda wondered if I have bothered her by sending her updates. it's good to know though that other breeders out there care and want update on the pups they send out into the world. |

Well said. I have talked on the phone and sent photos to Archie's breeder over the two and a half years I've had him and she is always so happy to hear from us. When I got Archie, she told me there is always at least one in the litter who is "special" and Archie was it. She gave me a wonderful gift -- my beautiful little baby -- so I feel it's a kindness to update her on his progress from time to time. |
I totally agree. I would have loved to keep in touch with Chelsea's breeder. I thought I had used a great breeder. I was so happy with her, that I sent her 3 clients who indeed did buy pups. I sent her several emails with updated pictures of Chelsea and she only responded once, months after I had contacted her. She showed no concern or even bothered to answer any of my questions. Mind you, my cousin and I bought 2 pups from her! :( |
Its nice to see that there are some breeders that really do care after the pup is gone! I do infact email my breeder pictures of my furbutts!;) |
It's funny that you just posted this, because I just emailed pictures of Wrigley to her breeder last night! I hate to admit it was the first time and she's almost two, but in my defense, I just recently became picture posting literate! :p She emailed me back and was so happy to see the photos! |
I keep in touch regularly with Pixie and Roxie's breeder and send pics. She will call me occassionally just to talk and when I had a major health issue (RIP Dixie) she responded very favorably and felt as bad as I did. I really appreciate a breeder who wants contact. |
Peeka's breeder i have sent a lot of pics to and kept in touch till he was just over a yr old. She was nice and responsive.:) Daisy's breeder i really thought would appreciate pics but i send them and no responce, She doesn't even return my phone calls or emails anymore.:( It really sucks! She retired but it's like she just doesn't care. I no longer even try to send her pics anymore. |
Pookie's breeder has been there for me every step of the way. Answering any questions I may have had. Who knows your baby better than the breeder? I have a lot of respect for you wonderful people. I admire your desire, dedication and knowledge. Without you guys we wouldn't have our babies. I send Pookie's breeder pictures and we talk on the phone frequently. I'm always interested in hearing about how the other pups in the litter are doing. Hats off to all responsible breeders. |

It's a two-way street. The same could be said for some breeders. :) |

I wonder how the puppies looked as adults... weight as adults ... you always wonder and hope everything went alright. I know I appreciate the families that send me updates so much and always try to let them know how much I appreciate hearing from them. |
ive sent pictures about 4 or 5 times to pebbles breeder.. she ASKED for pics for the kids.. but i get no response at all from her? it kind of upsets me to be honest...is it so hard to say thanks or something? :( |
i think i go over board with keeping in touch lol. laceys breeder and i have a great relationship she is like extended family to us. i also keep in touch with lolas breeder. i love that i know they care about my dogs still.:animal-pa |
thanks to the OP for posting this! i am glad you gave us this gentle reminder :) i try to keep in touch with my kids breeders too...i have not emailed ginos breeder in a while but did a couple of times in the month after i picked him up :) i also wanted to send her pictures but for some reason kodak gallery online does not accept their email address as valid :( but i need to upload some into photobucket so they can see how handsome he is! :D i email regularly with miss buffeys breeder and TRY to send her pictures every few weeks...when i do , there are usually 100+ pictures :p lol ... i know she loves seeing the pictures and she always emails me back as soon as she gets a chance...she is the best! :) |
I am in contact with both breeders i've bought from,, probably OD them both with pics and emails at times it seems, ,lol,, but i do hear back from them both as they have time,, I mean they are busy with kennels and babies,, but i believe they love hearing their babies are so well loved and cared for here! and that they want to know how they are doing. I'd hate to have bought from a breeder who DIDN'T care what happens with their pups. I've sent both breeders lots of new clients and feel they appreciate that as well. :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
If I ever get a yorkie from a breeder, I hope it's someone who cares as much as you!!! And I would definately send updates and pics!!! |
You inspired me, after I read this thread yesterday. (I do keep in touch with Piccolo's breeder, and she is wonderful.) Because of this thread, however, I sent an updated picture and she returned the nicest message. Thanks for the inspiration! :) |
i am the exact same way...hehe...so in my part i call my buyers once in a while or email them... i also keep in contact with my breeders...only because being a breeder myself i want my buyers to keep in contact with me...hehe |
