Please Pray For Me And Mattie!
 

I am at my last string of hope. You all know about my little Mattie. She is no better.. In fact worse. :( She can't even stand or nothing. I have been giving her meds by a syringe an she can't even eat now. Her head is permanently cocked to one side and her body is curved, She is so pitiful to see.. I cry all the time and don't want to see her like this. The test results haven't gotten back yet and I took her to another Vet Saturday. He took more blood but said she is too far along to do anything if it is Liver Shunt. He even mentioned she might have Encephalitis. That if they took test for that it takes a few days to get results back too. I am exhausted and so is my Husband. He and I cry all the time. I want to wait and see what the test results come out too and then I can't stand to see her like this. The vet said she is in NO pain an if it was him he would send her to rainbow bridge. I feel I can't do that yet till the test results back, when who knows. Plus at 5 am this morning I got a call... My sister passed away from ovarian cancer and I don't know what to do. I am in poor health and can't walk or stand long, with back and knees and legs problems. I just don't know what to do. I haven't slept in 3 days, maybe 4 hours, cause I want to be with My Little Mattie. Please say a prayer for us to show me what to do. I know the enevitable like my Husband says.. but I don't want to do it. Please help me.. Please..

Oh, I'm so so sorry for what you are going through with your health, Mattie and the loss of your sister! I can't even begin to imagine your pain. I wish there was something I could do but I wanted you to know I am thinking of you and your family. :cry:

Brenda, I'm not a religeous nut or anything, but my new YT friend, at this point,and with everything you've just been handed lately,you need to put all of this in Gods hands. These things going on with Matie are out of your control. You've done all the right things,but sweetie it's now up tp God. I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. You've got too much on your plate,and you need to take care of your health. Please put your health first. You can't help anyone until you are better. Your husband needs you,and you need to be there for each other. I'm going to be sending well wishes to you and yours. Don't give up...things will be o.k. in time.

This breaks my heart. Poor little Mattie. I've had to make this horrible decision before and decided to do all that I could to help Snoopy (my cat). I could tell that he was in really bad condition, but I was hoping that with my care and love, he would pull through. I did everything the vet said I should do, and I did not give a thought to the dollar amount. I just wanted him to stay with me. Then one night, while I was feeding him with a syringe, I told myself, I needed to let him go. There was no more life in him left. I decided to take him in to the vet in the morning to end is suffering (he was not in pain, but I could tell he was suffering... looking in his eyes- not sure if that makes sense). Early that evening, he passed away. My advice to you, is to let little Mattie go, so she no longer has to suffer and you can put your mind at rest knowing she crossed over the rainbow bridge. You have a lot on your plate right now, and believe me, once she passes, it will feel like a whole weight has been lifted because you will know she is in a good place.

Yeah...the above is what I meant when I said the hardest part of loving a pet is sometimes the most loving decision.

Brenda check you Private Messages!! I know what Mattie has and can help you!! Brooke had the same thing, she was crooked and couldn't walk!! It is most likely GME a form of Meningioencephalitis. I gave you the contact name of the doctor that saved my Brooke, he can help you save Mattie. You can email him and he will work with your doctors for free!! He is an expert on GME and has helped thousands of people save their dogs!!! Please call me I can help, I have been going through the same thing for a year!!

If anyone else knows how to contact Brenda, please PM me! I don't want her to put Mattie down when all she needs right now is the correct dose of Prednisone and a consult with Dr. Sisson.

I pray that HE will give you the strenght to do what is best for Mattie, whatever that might be . . .and I too would hang on for as long as I can. Please get some needed rest, you need it to be there for her. I am also soo very sorry for the loss of your sister . . .:(

Wow, I didn't think of that...You're right...It could be GME...Or it could be a liver problem. I hope they are able to figure it out and that her baby will be okay.

The differential diagnosis list for GME is pretty short. It can be confused with other forms of encephalitis (infectious, toxic) and with cancers affecting the brain. Hepatic encephalopathy can look a lot like GME but usually there are obvious signs of liver disease which make it possible to distinguish that toxic effects of liver disease are causing the neurologic signs.
