Bindi is getting spayed tomorrow. :-? nervous wreck Im beyond concerned as you can imagine. what are some things I need to make sure i do to ensure a healthy and speedy recovery?? do i need to buy anything special?? |
Aw, Good luck to her. I know she'll be fine. I'd buy her a pack of onesies so that she doesn't mess with her stitches. They are so much more comfortable than the e-collar. |

Zoey was spayed last friday and did very well. I didn't put anything on her and the one time I saw her look at the stitches I told her no and she hasn't bothered them since. Good luck on her spay. Sending tons of prayers your way for a successful surgery and speedy recovery. |
onesies are wonderful. She will be VERY sleepy when she comes home and that collar thing would just make her uncomfortable. The oneies can be worn all day and night. When Layla was spayed she was 3 lbs and i bought premie onesies and they fit very well. I didn't cut a hole in them.. just stuck her tail through the snaps and undid it when she had to go out. Layla was VERY out of it when she came home and needed help standing when she had to pee. If your pup does't come home with pain meds (Layla didnt) be very careful when you lift her up. I'd buy or go to a pharmacy and ask for an eye dropper so you can give her water. Good luck. we are here if you have any questions :) |
I remember all to well when my little one was spade - I took a few days off of work to be with her and make sure she was recovering okay. They used glue instead of stitches on the outside of the skin. No need for a collar or wrap. I think I was really lucky that she just left the area alone. I made sure I had extra treats on hand to give her with her meds to be sure she had something in her tummy. One of my biggest concerns was keeping her from jumping or trying to jump on things (she could not jump up on the couch yet). Good luck and you are in my thoughts. |
Hey Vaishali! Aww poor Bindi! She'll do fine! I agree with Kyle and Marci, onsies are great! That e-collar is horrible! I picked him up at 4:15ish and waited till 5:30 to offer him water and then food 30 minutes later. He ate a good amount that night. He was very tired! Our vet gave me 2 medicines. One I gave twice a day for 4 days and the other I gave twice a day for 7 days. But, he got his declaws removed, so you might not get those. Is she getting any teeth removed? Meeko and I will be thinking about her tomorrow. He misses her a lot!!! ;) Call me if you wanna talk! Let me know when you hear from the vet! |
both my girls had their surgery on thursday.......... I can totally understand how you must feel....... and to be upfront, the first two days are the hardest because she will be so vulnerable... and it will probably break your heart to see her be so out of it. But her personality and spirit will help her and you get through this time. |
Good luck, Bindi!! I'll be thinking of you! (hug) |

Awww...I know how you feel. I was crying when I dropped Betty off  It will be fine. My Vet does not give them pain meds to take at home...and they were fine the next day. Let us know how things go. I will say a little prayer for Bindi. |
