I highly recommend a small crate and also a Xpen (exercise pen) for your puppy. It will be easier to housebreak the pup if he is confined to his own little area.
I also recommend a good harness. I own a Puppia and also a good retractable leash for housebreaking, etc., in the yard. I never left my Yorkie roam free in the yard when housebreaking.
A good raincoat is a must and of course all the sweaters, coats, etc. for the winter. I would wait until he or she arrives and try on the correct size. Your pup will outgrow the outfits after the first year and you will have to get a new set of everything. I donated mine to the shelter for any small dogs or puppies that might be left there.
