Schnauzer/Yorkie mix...? Has anyone ever had, seen, sold or bought a schnauzer/yorkie mix? The mother of our babies was in heat and my finacé's grandmother didn't know and her friends male schnauzer came over and they think that she may have puppies but aren't sure. I just wanted to know if anyone has ever heard of this kind of mix. |

That would be an interesting mix. (Not saying that I agree, It happened so what else can be done. For does YTers that will start something for agreeing with mixing the race) I wonder if anyone has picture of the mix. |
I have never seen one, but I did a quick search. They are called "Snorkies". As you can see, they have varying looks... Snorkie, Snorkies, Mini Schnauzer Yorkie Hybrid ETA: I know nothing of this website, just wanted to give you some pics to see. |
Not want I had in mind. You should have no problem getting a good home for the babies. That is if she did get pregnant. |

Someone that goes to the dog park down here has a snorkie. It's the cutest thing! I love these 2 breeds! My mom has a schnauzer, they're greats dogs. |

I adopted a Snorkie from Hurricane Katrina. She has a Yorkie face and fur but Shnauzer body. She look just like yours. She lost puppies in the Hurricane. She has seperation anxiety if I go I leave her .She is very intelligent and learns quickly.I need to know how to trim her face. Any suggestions. |
A lot of yorkies get a schnauzer cut, so they do look similiar in a way. Just curious as to how much the parents weigh, that would concern me more than the mix itself |
Hmmm... this could be a dangerous combo. Aren't schnauzers quite a bit bigger than yorkies. I would assume if someone was intentionally mixing the breeds the male would be the yorkie and the female the schnauzer in case the baby pups are bigger. Again, I don't know the logistics but you may want to go to the vet to confirm pregnancy and then decide on options. |
That was my first thought. You need to get your female to your vet asap and find out if she is pregnant. If she is, your vet may advise you to terminate her pregnancy. |
Huh, I never thought about two different sized dogs breeding being a problem, but it should have been obvious to me. Interesting. This is a little off-topic, but what would happen if say, a lab mom and a yorkie dad mated? Would the puppies survive with that big of a difference in them? BTW, the yorkie/schnauzer pictures are really cute... I have a (mostly) yorkie now, but I grew up with mini schnauzers all my life. I love them both!!! :-) Lauren & Nikko |

I think the babies would be ok. Since the breeds are so different there just might be more genetic variation. Bottom line is they're both dogs, mixing shouldn't be a problem. It's not like you're mixing a cat with a dog. I once saw an ad for someone selling/rehoming a yorkie-rottweiler mix (sorry if I misspelled that). It looked like a med sized dog that looked a lot like a yorkie. Just wanted to add, the doggies from the link are so cute!! If you do have puppies, they are probably going to find homes quickly! |
London is a snorkie. shes beautiful, happy and healthy. her mom was a mini schnauzer and her dad was a yorkie. i love her so much. |
Measuring up my girl Mya has 10 inch legs, neck to stubby 21 ins around her snooter is 8 ins and she is 18 lbs 2 ozs. I need to know how to trim her face as I don't want her to look like the schnauzer because she has such a cute Yorkie face. There wasn't anymore info from Mississippi,or Ohio about her puppies. Presumed drowned . I am just so grateful to have her.:animal36 |
I moved so I don't know what acutally happened to to mother of my babies...I do know that she had about four puppies that were a schnauer/yorkie mix. |

My friend has a yorkie schnauer mix and it is soo cute, to me it looks more like a yorkie but you can see the schnauer in it. I grew up with a miniature schnauzer and they are very smart dogs. |
