Are there any men on YT that own yorkies? Just a random question:) Just wanted to know why is it such a stereotype to own a small dog only if you're a girl or have a different sexual orientation than most. I feel as though you should pic the breed that fits you based on their personality and your lifestyle not their size or by stereotypes unless of course you live in apartment and own a Great Dane  I love the yorkie breed and sometimes ill be walking my small dog and a woman will come up and say what a cute dog, is that yours and i'm thinking who's else would it be. I've gotten this ALOT! |
Tell me about it. Why can't we just love the breed:aimeeyork. I have a good size house, but I hate big, hair all over the place dogs:animal36. (stands in front of the crowd)My name is Java and I love Yorkies. (Crowd all says in unison "hi Java") |
There are a few here:) We have Mike (alaskayorkie) Also Fast eddie and D (anthroboi) they are all here and active to the site and all love their yorkies:) There are more i just can't think right now lol. |
I'm an equal opportunity harasser. :D Doesn't matter if they are male of female, young or old, if I see someone with a yorkie I immediately run up to play and cuddle with their pooch (w/ permission of course =). Not everyone is stuck on stereotypes though, so no worries. If I saw you together I'd assume it was your dog. Also, we just moved from the DC area to Glen Burnie. Wonder if we are close? |

I hate it when people select pets so that they can reinforce people's opinion of them or want to make a statement. A pet should be chosen very carefully to fit in with ones lifestyle. Every time, I see someone with a truly "macho" type dog, I always think what are they (the owner) so insecure about? When I take Joey to Home Depot, he gets so much attention from great big "macho men." I think the more confident you are in yourself, the more you can do things to please yourself, and with age, you will learn, other's opinions shouldn't affect who you are, although it sounds like you have already learned this. Welcome to YorkieTalk! |
I hate this stereotype I feel as though if you love the breed and it fits you then get the dog that perfect for you not your "image". I have lots of people that tell me men aren't suppose to own yorkies or small fluffy dogs, the dog doesn't care if you're male or female he just wants to be love and cared for so why should we care who owns the dog as long as their caring and loving for the dog as needed. I don't own my yorkie as a reflection of my image (I may dress him as a reflection of me, some skulls here and there.lol:D) but because I love the breed and I have enough confidence to say "I'm a man I own a yorkie and i'm proud of it". THEY'RE WONDERFUL! :) |

Hello From Puerto Rico 2 Attachment(s) I'm a 6'4", 280 pounds, 40 yrs young guy and I wouldn't change my very handosomes babies for any other dog. Here's proof why. |

Originally, I probably did compensate by making sure Eddie was a smart dog. I put him through a lot of obedience training and agility. If anyone ever asked "What good is he?" I'd run him through some of his tricks and shut them up. He's smarter than most big dogs I know. But then I got Jack. Four pounds. A yapper. He's now 12. Everything skeptics would say they dislike about little dogs. And I love him every bit as much as I love Eddie. I had two relatives at a recent family gathering tease me about Jack. I didn't even give them the satisfaction of trying to defend him. If they don't understand as adults, they never will. It's their issue, not mine. Besides, their big dogs are invariably fat and underexercised. I've found it much more practical to have a little dog that needs less exercise than to try to have a healthy big dog. |
I would not have Jeter if my husband and 4 boy's thought that Yorkies were too girly of a dog to have. Beings the only girl in my house they could of overruled the decision on what breed we went with but they do not feel that way thank God! They know that Yorkies are sweet loving dogs, my mom has 2 girl Yorkies and my husband fell in love with her oldest one names Nellee. When we got Jeter my husband had to stop in at the Speedway gas station to show his friend our new puppy. He also took him into the hardware store once when I was out to lunch when Jeter was a puppy because he did not want to leave him by himself. I had not taken him to any stores yet myself and he beat me to doing it LOL! He will proudly carry Jeter on his daily walk around downtown when he gets pooped out too. Jeter might be MY puppy, but he sure is a daddy'd boy too! http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...landMay001.jpg |

I'm married to a big muscular guy and he LOVES Murfee. They go "hunting" together (walks) and Richard brags about how smart Murfee is and how good his hearing is. I think he talks about Murf more than I do. |
1 Attachment(s) I swear my husband is the most total push over for our babies! He wont go to bed without one in it with him! He proudly walk around with the little girl all dressed up in her pink dress and bow and jewelry. |
Handsome men + cute dogs... I'm lovin' this thread!! :D Another person from Glen Burnie too, I feel a meet up coming on! |
Doesn't bother my husband that we have two fluffy little dogs. They go everywhere with us, even strapped in a car seat in the back of his jeep. We have a 30 year old umarried son who calls them his "chic magnet". Says everytime he keeps them and takes them for a walk, the women come from everywhere. I was in the bank a few weeks ago standing in line, had Barkley, my newest one. When the girls behind the counter saw him they came out from behind the counter and wanted to hold and kiss on him. When they went back, a very nice looking, 25ish young man punched me on the shoulder, and said "Where can I get one of those." Everyone in the bank just cracked up. No shame from my men for loving fluffy little dogs.:) |
1 Attachment(s) I send hubby pictures of Little Man when he's at work, he goes and shows his buddies his "son". They all use to laugh at him and make fun of him, but then he told them "you can make fun of me all you want it don't bother me, but if that little doggie makes my wife happy, then I'm happy." They quit making fun of him and now they ask him if I've sent any pictures of Little Man yet. LOL! Little Man knows when his daddy gets home from work it's playtime for a little while. So, he climbs up in hubby's lap and gives him kisses and then its playtime. Whether they play tug of war, fetch, or just playing video games, it's "daddy and me time" for them. Attachment 219230 |

We have Yorkies, Shih Tzu's and a Lab. My hubby was recently in intensive care and was sedated. When he was conscious the dog he asked about was NINA. He cried and took it harder than me when our late Nikki was put down. We sleep with several dogs on our bed, he insists on ALL of them being there. I commend all men who have toys dogs and are here on YT. We are here for the love of the Yorkie..aren't we?? I AM!:p |
I own a yorkie , and help my grandmother to show her yorkies . |
