I'm ashamed to say this happened to Mika once too, and it was MY FAULT. I thought her mother had her collar too tight, and I lossened it which gave her enough room for it to get lodged in her mouth. |
OMG! I'm so sorry that happened. I'm so scared for my baby now because she's always chewing on her dog tags and I never take her collar off. I just tell her to stop when I see her. I'm going to take them off from now on and just let her wear it when she goes outside. I do walk her on a harness though and not by her collar. I'm glad your baby is doing ok. We have to be real careful with our babies. |
This happened to me but while she was on top of me sleeping. She was about 3.5 months at the time. She was sleeping and then she started fidgeting with the collar and all of a sudden it got stuck in her mouth and she was choking and couldnt breathe. She was completely freaking out and so was I!!! Luckily I got it off and she just jumpd on me and gave me kisses all over my face. and till this daywhen i out her collar on she DOES NOT fidget with it. I am so glad you found your baby in time!!!1 |

I'm glad she is alright. I am certain that all yorkie mom's have their own horror stories to tell. So, don't feel alone!:) |
Collars arn't for just decoration. Most want to have our babies safe just in case they get out somehow, so we put a tag with their name and phone number. How many people know of or read about a pet being found or lost and did not have a collar? I only use harness for walks but I think it's a good idea to have a collar to attach the ID to, but you should never have it lose enough that they can get their lower jaw between it and the throat. |
Thank goodness this didn't end in a tragedy! I'm so glad to hear she's okay! Hugs to you! |
I use the breakaway collar meant for cats but it is a good size for my dog as some cats are bigger than my dog. Does the breakaway collar help when this happens as in will it break off if it gets stuck in their mouth? I would prefer to have a collar and ID tag on Pao all the time if possible coz you never know one day if they happen to slip out because someone else didn't close the door properly and neighbours could identify him. |
