Hi there and welcome to YT :). May I just ask, respectfully -- why you choose to breed mixed breed dogs? I've read through your last post and am just curious. I do think your pups are very cute :) |
:wavey:Welcome to YT. |

Hello and Welcome to YT! Your expertise will be an asset to the YT community. :) |
Welcome to YT! |
As for as my research has concluded, unless you really have another name/location, you are not a licensed Vet. in that state? Where did you graduate from? |

With mixed breeds there is no way to predict whether the puppies will take after the mother or father that's why purebred dogs came about, so people could predict the traits of the adult. This is not possible with a mixed breed, and sometimes the puppy inherits the bad traits of both breeds. A vet would know this! You have got to be aware of the killing of thousands of mixed breed dogs each year. I find it hard to believe an ethical breeder would ever do such a thing, and it's impossible for me to believe a Veterinarian would ever condone such a thing. Part of ending puppy mills and the senseless killing of thousands of dogs is to educate the buying public. Two things that the Humane Society recommends are: 1. Never buy a pet from a Pet Store. 2. Never buy from a pet from a Website. Visit your breeder in person. This is the only way you can be sure you are not adding the abuse of animals. Here is a quote from the Humane Society: " Find a responsible breeder and visit their premises. Responsible breeders provide a loving and healthy environment for their canine companions, but don't take their word for it. Never buy a puppy without seeing where they and their parents are raised and housed with your own eyes. Don't be swayed by a great website or ad. Just because a website says great things about their "home raised" or "family raised" puppies doesn’t make it true. Many puppy millers pose as small family breeders online and in newspaper and magazine ads." Puppy Buying Tips I also want to add, I could make a website that says that I'm a vet, that site offers free web space if anyone is interested, and it even tells you how to make a profession looking page. Do not believe everything that you read on the Web. |
I just find it hard to believe a vet would practice this type of breeding. With the problem of pet overpopulation, what makes you think that you are not contributing to the problem? And, I don't care how you package it, wrap it up with nice words and describe it - you're still operating a puppymill, by my definition. You advertise teacup chihuahuas (marketing ploy), sell with breeding rights, and have that many breeds - all the red flags are there. I would like to be polite and just "welcome you to YT", but I'm too disturbed by what I've seen and read on your website. And, am wondering if your agenda here is to primarily promote your puppy sales?:( |
Welcome. :) I'm sorry that you arrived to such a "welcoming." I think it's fine to kindly question someone (such as a newbie), but it's sad that some people have entirely to much time on their hands. |

This is a really important issue to many of us. Sometimes you have to stick your neck out there when it's important. We can cry all we want about puppy mills and how awful they are, and we can make more and more laws to regulate them, but the fastest way to put them out of business is the educate they buying public. |
Hi Laura - Welcome to Yorkie Talk. It would certainly be wonderful to have a vet at this forum. I think we can all agree wholeheartedly on that point. That said, I think you'll find that YT members are quite passionate about yorkies, dogs, and animals in general. One subject that (clearly) elicits a lot of controversy here is responsible breeding. A subjective matter, yes, but a subject that is dear to many of the members. Because you breed so many types of dogs, because you advertise all over the U.S., and because you're a vet who, instead of working to decrease the pet population, is increasing the pet population - you may find yourself defending your practices here. I'm not saying you have to - I'm just desribing the environment into which you've jumped. I want you to feel welcome to participate - but I want you to know and expect that many may disagree with your breeding program. So, just be prepared for some healthy debate! This is a very passionate, animal loving forum!! :) |
