| ![]() Trixie's hair is getting longer and so I am trying to put a little hairband in (it worked once, see introduction picture). I have the little latex rubber bands. How do I get her to sit still? Everytime I try, she squeels and pulls her head so she hurts herself. Then the headband is really tight and pulls her eyelids up. Any tips? |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() I started mine off by just gently brushing and massageing their heads ...I ALWAYS make sure it's not too tight - that will make them fearful of it - better to be loose while you practice then tight - it's ok to have it look lopsided till your yorkie gets to enjoy it - My girls LOVE their hair being put in a bow - they lay perfectly still .....only cause I have always been very gentle and told them how pretty they are about 10,000 times.... Just take your time - try a little every day and don't force it on your baby - I think the massaging works really well...they get a nice head rub and you get a cute topknot ! |

| ![]() It's a NIGHTMARE to make a top knot on Katie. You would think I'm beating her! She squirms and cries. Jim always tells me to stop "hurting his baby" LOL But when I DO manage to get it done, she looks so adorable.

| ![]() First off, Welcome to YT. I have been putting Chewy's hair in a topknot for about a month and I am quite obsessed with it!! I bribe him with little pieces of liver treats (cut up into tiny pieces) or just single pieces of kibble. I sometimes have to hold his head up by his ears, which isn't as bad as it sounds and quickly gather the hair and put it up. Sometimes you have to just loosen it when the band is in. Like Villette said, it's ok if it's not perfect, just get them used to having their hair put up and having the band in. You will see that after a few times it will get easier. Good Luck. |

| ![]() It will definitely take a couple of tries before your yorkie is used to you doing this. I also recommend putting her on a counter or other high surface when you are doing her hair. Olivia sits still when I put her up on the counter because she knows she has nowhere to go! Someone once mentioned here that they started out putting the band in their yorkie's hair and just wrapping the band 1 less time than necessary. Trixie will probably get it out pretty quickly if it isn't tight, but it will at least get her used to the sensation of something foreign being on her head. Be persistant! |
