First Timer Hello to everyone ... I'm new to YT and a first time yorkie owner. Harley is 12 weeks old and of course ADORABLE! Everything is perfect about him, except, we are having some serious potty issues :( I've really enjoyed reading everything on here ... it's been very informative and OMG is it addictive. Diane and Harley from Texas |
Welcome to YT, Harley is a cute name. Look forward is seeing pic's and hearing all about him. |
Hi Diane and Harley! Yep, you are right, this place is very addictive! You are in good company with having potty issues. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Your so right, YT is sooo addictive. My sons been bugging me for the puter all week...lol. We love pics..hint, hint... :) |
Welcome , cant wait to see pictures. |
Welcome to YT. Will love to see pics of Little Harley. To potty train you need to be consistent and patience. He is only 12 weeks so you need to take him often outside or to the pee pad depending in which you are using. When he does it rite praise him. At 12 weeks he should be confine to a smaller area not roam all the whole house. You can try crate him. You can check old post for more tips, Good luck. |
Welcome Texas Yorkie! Potty training is possible, it just takes time and presistence, remember human babies take YEARS to pottytrain! ;) Let Harley out as much as possible and when he does pee outside or in the right place, praise him like no tomorrow... He'll learn! Just keep it at! |
Hey, I'm a first time owner and a newbie too, and this is possibly the BEST place online for information. I'm glad you found us. Prepare for a serious yorkietalk addiction! |
Welcome Diane and Harley!! There is so much excellent potty training advice here. You can do a search and read many many posts about it. But don't hesitate to ask questions when they come up. Potty training a yorkie isn't easy but it is soooo worth it! Like Marie said, Don't give Harley free roam in the house. If you're not playing with him or you can't see him, he needs to be confined in a pen or a section of a room. Keep us posted on how he's doing and post pix if you can. |
Hello and Welcome Diane and Harley! Can't wait to see pics and good luck with the house training... |
welcome diane and harley!! to potty train him, i have no more advice than what was already said. :) if you don't want to use a crate you can use a playpen. welcome to YT!!!!!!! ***hint hint*** We LOVE pics. ;) |
Welcome to YT Diane! I hope to see lots of pictures of Harley soon! Potty training is going to take time, the others have already said what I wanted to say about it. It's mainly about persistance, consistancy and patience. I can't tell you one dog of any breed or size that was 100% potty trained at 12 weeks. That's still just a baby. Good luck! |
Welcome aboard! Always glad to have new yorkie lovers, I didn't realize so many people were as much in love with yorkies as I am until I found this place. Yes, it is addicting, we have a lot of fun with that! |
Welcome to our family. Potty training is an issue with these little ones. Are you trying to train for outside potty or inside potty? There's a lot of valuable information on the site. Just do a search on potty training. |
Welcome to YT! It is nice to see all the people from Texas here on this site. Be sure and post pictures. Where in Texas are you? |
