Welcome Diane and Harley! We're in Texas too.... in Brenham, between Houston and Austin. Where are ya'll? The only advice I can give on the potty training has already been said... consistency! and crate training helped with Tatum. We took her out to potty at least once an hour and always about 20 minutes after she ate. It was a lot of work but that's what it takes. Can't wait to see some pictures! |
Welcome to YT! 12 weeks is still very young, so potty issues are to be expected. Be very patient and give lots of praise and you'll see results in no time! |
Welcome to YT! I'm also in Texas-- at Rice University in Houston! We'd love to see some pictures of your baby.... |
I'll have to figure the picture thing out, but will share soon. We live in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. Thanks for all the encouragement on our potty issues. We go out ALL the time ... but he still goes in the house ALL the time as well. I bought a baby exercise pen yesterday, so we'll try that. I've been off work for the summer so I think we made the mistake of letting him run around the house too much. I'll be going back to work and the kids back to school in a few weeks so he'll be spending more time in the playpen and have less roaming time. I have a 2 year old female mini schnauzer and she was amazingly easy to potty train. I guess I keep comparing Harley's progress to her and he still seems so clueless about the whole thing at this point. |
Okay, I have a question ... do yorkie babies PP in their sleep? Several times my little Harley has been napping in the floor and I wait and watch for him to wake up to grab him and go outside but when I pick him up his entire underside is soaked from the chest down and there's a puddle right where he was laying. He's either going in his sleep or going before he even stands up. NEVER heard of dogs going potty on themselves! |

I've never heard of that either - except in really old dogs that just can't control it anymore. Might be worth asking your vet. Maybe he has a bladder issue that actually needs treatment? |
Hello and welcome to Yorkietalk! |

Welcome! :D |
Tell me about it...the potty thing is a nightmare. All my Yorkies have done their business sneakily in doors. Unforunately we've tried everything to stop them doing it. I'd love to hear some suggestions. Their cute little faces and their crazy personalities makes up for the mess they make hee hee! |
Welcome. I'm new to the site, but also have a Yorkie that is about the same age... 4 months. Samson is doing great with potty training. He hasn't had an accident in days. I take him out at regular intervals and give him treats and a "good boy" when he goes. Have patience. It takes time. |
