What are some definite must-haves... for a yorkie's arrival? I'm getting my baby in about 2 weeks and I want to have everything in place when she gets here! Or at least enough to get us through our first week or so. |

well..depending on the age of the puppy, I would invest in a tube of nutristat to help keep blood glucose stable. Yorkies are so suseptible to hypoglycemia when they are pups..soft blankey??? |

I would have a few toys and some bully sticks or something like that for her to chew. Puppy pads, if you plan on indoor training. Even if you're not, they are good to have when you leave for long periods. An ex-pen is nice to have, or a baby gate to gate her in one room if you have to leave her. |
I really like a car seat we got. It straps safely in car with a seat buckle and we used it as a "crate" for potty training. It's big enough for a dog, but small enough so the puppy will resist the urge pee on one side of the crate and sleep on the other. I kept it next to our bed, and he woke me up once or twice during the night. I would place him on the pee pad in the bathroom, and then first thing in the morning, I took him outside. He became accustomed to using pee pads and going outside. Now that he's older, I use it when I take him shopping; as it fits well inside a shopping cart or you can just wheel it around. Looks like you got a pretty good list from everyone. Did anyone mention a bed or blanket to lay on? Food and water dishes. Someone mentioned pee pads. I recommend the washable potty pads. They won't tear them up like the paper ones and they last a long time. Congratulations on getting a new puppy!! That is always so exciting! Enjoy every minute, they grow up so fast. Welcome to YT! A Good Vet!!! Find a good vet before you bring your pup home, some people have bad experiences with vets, but if you find one now thats less likely to happen!!! By the way my vet is fab!!! I'm not speaking from personal experience!!! |
Treats! Lots & lots of treats. Make sure that they are healthy treats....check the ingredients to be sure there isn't any by-product in them or unnecessary stuff like corn syrup. :) |

Hi Tami, you must be sooo excited! How about a cover for your crate? I have a small blanket that I put over mine. Sounds like you are just about ready, now all you need is your pup! :) I would recommend lots of paper towels to clean up any accidents...if there are any! :) |
