See...you've made tremendous progress...in just one day. Keep up the good work, your little guy will love you dearly. |
Yeah!! Well done. Keep it up. Eventually everything will fall into place. |
What I did the first night I brought home Archie was put a blanket on the floor and get down on the floor with him, laying down. He got a chance to explore his new mommy on his terms, sniffing and crawling around and then playing a little. I slept on the floor that night and put his crate on the floor next to me so he could see me. We bonded in no time. Just give your pup some room to get used to his new surroundings -- it's probably really scarey for such a little tike to be seperated from his mom and his breeder's home. Good luck! |
4 Attachment(s) OK, I have some pictures! There has been some progress: he's feeding in his pen where I leave his crate, food, toys and paper when I leave. Potty training is still a miss, although he did sniff around and decide to do it on the paper the other day without me having to chase him and close the door. His appetite is back and then some. He seems to understand, "Dodger come on" and "Dodger leave it". Only thing, he has a mild cough, which may delay his last booster on Monday and then puppy school...hopefully not. I do feel sad to leave him alone as he's so desperate to get out of the pen when I come home so I'm thinking of putting him in a daycare once a week. Thoughts? Oh, Lo behold...hope I'm not jinxing myself....he just peed....on the paper...in the pen. And I didn't even see him! :bravo::yay_jump: Dodger:animal36 |
ahhh what a little darling! He is so cute! HE's come a long way, and seems to be adjusting each day. I agree with what has been said. It takes time and lot's of loving. Your little guy will come around. My Suzi was very timid the first night . What has helped her so much was that I sit on the floor and let her decide on her own terms to approach me and play . I make no suddeb moves to pick her up. SHE now comes when her name is called, licks my face all over, and plays with her toys. However, she likes me to play too. I do find it very helpful to get down on her own level and play. I do not force her or anything. I have had her less then two weeks. She is now way attatched to me. The next step is to socialize her, and of course the potty training is an issue. Suzi prefers to sleep in my room next to me. I can't have her in my bed because she can't get down safely to eat or go potty. The bed is too high . But, she is right there close . I was lucky though, she was not much of a cryer . But she did a little. Now all she does is follow me, and wants to always play. :aimeeyork Your pup is doing very well. He will keep making progress too. :aimeeyork |
What an adorable little boy! I'm so glad he has made progress! I don't know much about daycare.....but it sounds good! |
