Some people just don't deserve dogs! Today, I was coming back in the house after taking the boys out, and I saw a dog run across the street and get hit. My neighbor was out doing yardwork and came running over. After the dog got hit, he hobbled to my front yard. I got a phone number from his tag and called his owner. A lady answered and said she would be right there. My neighbor and I sat with the dog and tried to keep him comfortable. I put a blanket on him and just kept reassuring him. I could tell he was in pain, and he was very very scared. His owner got here, and she asked me where he was hurt. I told her it seemed like his hip and leg, but he needs to see a vet to make sure there's no internal injuries or broken bones. She said "oh, he'll be fine....he's like a cat, he has 9 lives. He's always getting into trouble." She honestly didn't seem all that concerned and wasn't all that gentle about putting him in her car. I get so tired of seeing people not taking care of their pets. They don't deserve them. |
oh my gosh....poor guy =( hope he is okay |

Mine too, Paula! I still have the owner's number in my cell phone. I keep thinking about calling to check on him. |
That's awful....nothing surprises me anymore. I know I'd have wanted to go upside her head for that kind of attitude but there are many many people out there just like her good for you taking care of him and if I were you I WOULD call - maybe it'll set your mind at ease and maybe you can talk her into seeing a VET |

honestly she doesn't deserve that dog.. sheesh.. and i'd probably consider calling her again as well.. but then that might freak her out.. |
Poor dog :( Can you imagine getting hit by a car and not having a doctor look at it. |

I'm soooo relieved that she took him to the vet! |

I don't doubt it. :( My SIL is a teacher and some of the things she tells me... I sure hope the dog isn't suffering. |
so sad to read these kinds of things. Not much you can do but pray for them. |

Poor dog. :( That was really nice what you did for it before the owner came. It made me mad what she said, but I'm so glad to hear she took it to the vet. If you can, please keep us informed about how the dog did thru the surgery. Good Job for helping that poor, helpless, injured dog.:) |
That just made me physically ill. How can a pet owner be so callus? It is just awful. Poor little thing, I just can't coment anymore it is just sickening. At least you were kind and loving to him. |
Gee whiz -- you wonder if you have to have a license to drive a car or get married, why on earth you don't need some sort of clearance to have a pet! When people adopt children, every aspect of their lives is looked at -- well, an animal is a living thing just like a child, but any idiot can have one! |

I'm so glad you called her and that she did the right thing and took him to the vet. A broken hip...owey!! |
It really erks me when people allow their furkids to run off lead in areas that aren't fenced. Heck, even in fenced areas they can get hurt, butt he chances are way lower. I'm glad she decided to take him to the vet, I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers and hope he does ok in surgery and recovers well. |
when i get a new addition to my family (or any responsible pet owner lol), i make sure that i am the forever home and that i have the funds necessary to take care of it-for food, water, vet shots and any emergency care. it just blows my mind that when some ppls pets get injured they are so callous and indifferent about the pet- its the owners responsibility to do whatever is necessary to help that poor animal in emergency situations! they will leave it to die, or just euthanize it right away because its cheaper than trying to give it a second chance. im glad you kept her number (smart thinking!) and that she did take it to the vet. Heck, im glad that she even elected for surgery, i figured that considering the way she acted she would just put it down.. so sad. |
Oh thats horrible! i hate when people let thier dogs roam free!!! GGRRR I lived on a busy road one time and took my 8 year old neice for a walk down to the store. While we were walking this little pug puppy comes charging across the street and gets hit. GGRRRR I picked it up out of the road, carried it to the sidewalk and laid it down. The owner comes over yelling about how his wife was going to KILL him. I WANTED TO KILL HIM!!! Busy road, new puppy, no leash! What a short sad life that little pup lived and died sooooo needlessly. :( My neice was devastated to see it and I had to calm her down ALL night! :( I wanted to punch the guy in the face!!! I was sooo extremely mad! |
Sometimes i think animals are more evolved than people. Animals are not for our amusement, i think they are enhancers. They are the only love money can buy. |
Poor baby...maybe her a$$ needs to get hit by a car...how could she think he was ok and just going to be fine. |
Update The lady called me today to let me know that her dog (Rex) did really well with surgery. He will be coming home tomorrow. She thanked me and apologized for the way she was yesterday. She said she had been having a very bad day. The man who hit Rex did stop, and apparently, he is paying for Rex's surgery because he feels so bad about it. I think he is the one who talked her into taking him to the vet. He seemed like a nice man, and he was very upset about hitting Rex. But, it wasn't his fault. The way it happened, I don't see how he could have avoided it. Although I don't understand how she could NOT want to take him, I'm so glad she finally did and that Rex is going to be okay.:) |

I can\'t believe the man is paying for Rex\'s surgery! What a kind and responsible soul! It\'s angels like him that make this world a better place! |
Once I witnessed a dog get hit by a car and the owner came out and yelled at the dog and it was hurt. She picked him up yelling and went into her house. Later I saw her leave. I had my daughter go the next day to ask about the dog and the lady said he was fine but his leg was broken. The woman said she was so distraught she had yelled at the dog as she was in shock. Her mother died the same day and that is why she was careless and let her dog get out by accident. She was really upset about her mother and yelling at herself. This taught me not to second guess what happens. Sometimes the person may be careless and uncaring but unless you know ALL the facts don\'t be to judgemental. I have spent less time on YT just because it seems people are quick to condemn and judge others. |
oh i\'m glad she took him to the vet and he\'s gonna be allright. I hope the surgery goes well. |
