The breeders section probably would be able to better answer your questions. You plan on docking your puppies tail on your own? Thought vets did that. I may be wrong since I am not a breeder. |
Congrats on the litter and welcome to YT! Don't know anything about docking tails, do you have someone to help you do it? Or have you ever done it before? I'm not a breeder, but if it were me and I had no experience w/ docking tails I'd probably take them to the vet just to be safe! |

When my husband was breeding rotties he docked the tails himself but I had my vet do my yorkie pups - it only cost about $8.00/pup here to get dew claws & tails done |
If you havent docked the tails before, then let the vet do it. You could really hurt them and it also depends on how old they are. My sister does it but it's her and her co-breeder that do it together and she is a tech so I would just let the vet do it. |

I don't breed but I would think if this is your first litter you should probably not just go out and buy a tool and dock the tails yourself. Has your mom been seen by a vet while she was expecting? You should probably have your vet do the dew claws and tails. Elaine |
Hello and welcome to YT! Congrats on your litter. In my opinion I would take them to the vet to have the tails and dewclaws removed. Good luck! |

Since this is your first litter, I'm assuming that you have not docked tails before. If you haven't, let a vet do it. It's not very expensive at all to get tails docked and dew claws removed. How old are they? I'm not a breeder, but I was under the impression that it should be done within the first three days of the pups being born. Congratulations! We'd love to see pics! |
Ibc? What are IBC papers? and as for the tail docking, all I can say is Y I K E S !!! Sue & Cricket :aimeeyork |
Tail docking happens at 3-5 days old and i would suggest you have a vet do it and at least show you how the first time. |

Again, if you have Biewer puppies. Don't dock the tails - it's not the standard for Biewers. |

We'll have to wait and see... |
Welcome to yt! My Porsche had her first (and maybe only) litter earlier this year. I learned a lot from the helpful people here. I would never have attempted to dock their tails myself, though. The vet did that and their dew claws. The breeder who sold us Porsche docked her tail too short and left on her dew claws. So it's good to find out as much as you can. This is the place!!! |

IBBC is for Biewers, and they don't get their tails docked! Here is a link from the IBBC about registration. Biewer Breed International Registry |
thank you for the information lovemyjake |
If the dogs are biewers, you need a few mentors assisting you. Biewers tails are not docked. IBC is a registery in Germany but there are american ones to assist you. Check out info with the BTCA at Biewer Terrier Club of America or at my websote for assistance. |
I agree with Dee.. If you have Biewers you do NOT dock the tails. Please talk with your breeder about mentoring you on the Biewer breed. If your breeder does not offer to help you, there are breeders or Biewer owners/Lovers on this forum or other Biewer - specific forums that would be more than happy to help you out. Biewers are rather new to the US and they are a wonderful, exciting breed and in some ways they are different than the Yorkie. It may be a good idea for you to do some reading on the breed so you can fully appreciate your good fortune. -Diana :animal-pa |

I will assume that you obtained your Biewers on full registration ( breeding rights).Your breeder should help direct you. However,it seems that you may not have received very much direction from them. * sigh* You really should seek out a mentor, they're many fabulous Fanciers involved who would be willing to help educate you on this beloved breed. In my opinion it is very disheartening that you have not seeked information for yourself about the Breed, before venturing into breeding. Having said that, there are many knowledgeable Breeders available online and in the forums and Breed Clubs who could certainly point you in the right direction. Best Wishes with your Bundle of Furbabies:animal-pa |
