Buddy was 3.5 lbs when he was weighed at the vet a little less than a month ago. He is going to be 8 months in about a week.:p |
My baby is only 10weeks yesterday and 1lb 2oz :) According to the growth chart she is only going to be 3 1/2 pounds. But you never know.... I want her to be at least 5lbs full grown  We'll see! |

I was told by the breeder that his parents were both 5 lbs. Either the breeder lied, or he had some big grandparents. The growth chart is just an estimate. I don't bother using it because you'll never know. Your yorkie's size is all determined by genetics. |
Mollie is 4 pounds . |

Tia is 5 half pounds at 9 months |
Wow, what a long thread! Here is a link to a growth chart for the OP. It's obviously not an exact science, but it's fun to look at and see how big your pup might get. Small Dog Clothes Sizes and Measurements I've been following Meg through it and it's been pretty accurate, although she did skip up a couple categories when she started eating like a normal doggie! |
Silvia is a couple of ounces shy of three pounds. She was my first yorkie, so I was not prepared for such a tiny little thing. I saw both her parents on site at the breeder's and they were four and six pounds. Who knows?. She is now almost five years old and has been healthy and happy thank goodness. I worried about having to be careful with her, but she's a tough little thing and has a vicious bark! :D Oh, I send Christmas cards to the breeder every year thanking her for Silvia. The breeder actually argued with me for the longest that the puppy in the picture was NOT the one she sold me! LOL! Funny how things turn out, huh? |
my puppy is really, really tiny! I've been looking for a female puppy for months and she is the only available yorkie if we exclude puppy mills, pet shops, dogs without pedigree and very expensive show class dogs, (I leave in Bulgaria) which are way above my budget. I bought her form a show breeder and both her parents are gorgeous! They are over 5ibs and they have other 5 big male pupps, but her estimated weight is just above 2.5ibs. She's 40 days old now and still with her mom. She'll stay there for another month. I really, really hope that they got it wrong and that she will grow into a big adult (up to 7ibd, I'm not a fan of huge yorkies). I must admit that I am worried; if she stays tiny she'll really be vulnerable to injuries. I'm sure that she'll be healthy as she wasn't bread to be a "tee cup" but she turned out that way (I know that tee cup does not exist, please don't mind that I've used that expression). BTW the breeder did not charge me extra for this puppy. They don't rip you off over here. They consider small size to be a defect. I do too, but this puppy was adorable. I fell in love with her as soon as I saw her! :luvu: Has anyone had a really tiny puppy that grew to a normal size yorkie? please write back, i'm really hoping to here back form someone who had a similar experience. thanks a lot! :aimeeyork |
You said her estimated weight is just above 2.5ibs. She's 40 days old now and still with her mom. 40 days is about 5-6 weeks? That doesnt seem so tiny to me at all. I got oscar at 8 weeks and he was 2 pounds and now hes 9 |

http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/5646/bebe2r.th.jpg I don't know how much she weighs now, but I would guess, under a pound. I can't wait for her to be 8 weeks old! We will be able to predict her future weight with more certainty. I've read that I should mulitply her weight by 3 and that will be her adult weight. She'd better weigh at least a pound! I hope she will grow even more, like your puppy did. His current weight is 4,5 times greater than when he was 8 weeks old. :xfingers: |
Apple will be 5 months old in one week, and she weighs 2 lbs. 15 oz....I am so excited she is almost 3 lbs....I didn't understand about yorkie weights, when I got her...I just liked her spunk, personality, and sweet face...Knowing what I've learned on here, I don't want her to be too small........
