Puppy Mill alert - Ireland. I found this site when I was searching for puppy mill info last night. I'm HORRIFIED :eek: I had NO idea Ireland was the worst place in Britain/Europe for puppy mills and has no legislation to protect dogs. I hope the link works or you may need to cut and paste it. It says in the report that pups are exported all over the world from Ireland. Wales is bad enough for puppy mills but this seems even worse. Poor dogs! :mad: |

Sounds like the info on their site is quite the opposite of the article...good sales pitch...I would say that anyone having 'relatives' breeding that many different breeds in Ireland is very suspicious. Plus the quality of the yorks pictured is deplorable. |

OOPS, they updated the site with new pics (not many now) since the last time I looked. They used to have more pics of some awful looking adult yorks with flop ears, looong muzzles and coats that looked remarkably like wheatens. |
It's amazing that the article says that people don't think this is a major problem over there. It's also sad that the man had to leave the puppymill without doing anything because he didn't see any "cruelty" as defined by their laws. I would think that hundreds of animals living under these conditions would be considered cruelty. In my search for a yorkie, I spoke to a man in the Bronx who sold Irish yorkies. I can't remember if he said it was through a family member in Ireland, but that sounds familiar. I'll have to go look at his website. Thankfully, I spoke with a member on here about this person and guided her elsewhere in the area. Ooohh... Now I hope she took my advice. I also came across Celtic Irish Pups in my search. I actually spoke to a member here who got her yorkie through this woman and she said that her puppy was quite expensive. The profit these people make at the expense of poor sickly puppies is disgusting. It's amazing that people would knowingly sell puppy mill puppies and lie about the situation to potential buyers. I would never be able to sleep at night. |

I bought my Yorkie from a puppy mill - she was an ex breeding bitch in a very bad way and she looks exactly how you just described. When I looked at the pic on that site of the Yorkie with floppy ears that's just what she looks like. I love her so much I but do sometimes look at her and think 'are you really a Yorkie'!LOL She'll always be cute to be but she is not your perfect Yorkie and she just keeps getter bigger as she gets condition on, she's so long bodied and she's nearly 11 Pounds in weight already. People were paying good money for her poor babies (they were very expensive)and can't have had a clue what they were buying. These breeders obviously only care about money - not standards. |
Irish I will tell RiniW to read this post...she visited a breeder who imports Irish pups...it was beyond horrible. |
I believe there were a few people on this board who purchased from Celtic Puppies... I called the woman @ CP maybe May of this year inquiring about the puppies for a friend of mine...and from what she told me...The Yorkies are breed by her sister who lives in Ireland..They are raised with children...They come with a 4 year health garuentee and you can visit her home at any time to interact with the pups etc...When I spoke to her she had 1 male and 1 female available... Makes you wonder if she was for real or not... |
