Puppy Mill alert - Ireland. I found this site when I was searching for puppy mill info last night. I'm HORRIFIED  I had NO idea Ireland was the worst place in Britain/Europe for puppy mills and has no legislation to protect dogs. I hope the link works or you may need to cut and paste it. Its a useful site for info in general. http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/hopeuk/pu...rm_capital.htm Please be aware that if you are offered a puppy from Ireland it has probably had the worst start possible. It says in the report that pups are exported all over the world from Ireland. Wales is bad enough for puppy mills but this seems even worse. Poor dogs! |

That's so sad! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. It lets us know how far reaching people's greed goes, and how much harder we need to work to stop it! |

 so sad. :( |

Ugh! I'm sorry you had to learn that. I was just as shocked when I heard one got busted near me! |

" Such dogs are frequently offered on US websites by known brokers who claim 'Irish relatives' send them the dogs. " This sounds like Celtic Irish broker in NJ... anybody have info on them? |

http://www.celticirishpuppies.com/pwhy.html If it wasn't so sad it would be funny! Do you think I should send them a link to the site I found? |

Sounds like the info on their site is quite the opposite of the article...good sales pitch...I would say that anyone having 'relatives' breeding that many different breeds in Ireland is very suspicious. Plus the quality of the yorks pictured is deplorable. |

Boy, you don't have to go to Ireland for this. They closed down one in Nashville Tn. not too long ago that was much the same. Joan & Crystal All for now Gotta Go |

OOPS, they updated the site with new pics (not many now) since the last time I looked. They used to have more pics of some awful looking adult yorks with flop ears, looong muzzles and coats that looked remarkably like wheatens. |

It's amazing that the article says that people don't think this is a major problem over there. It's also sad that the man had to leave the puppymill without doing anything because he didn't see any "cruelty" as defined by their laws. I would think that hundreds of animals living under these conditions would be considered cruelty. In my search for a yorkie, I spoke to a man in the Bronx who sold Irish yorkies. I can't remember if he said it was through a family member in Ireland, but that sounds familiar. I'll have to go look at his website. Thankfully, I spoke with a member on here about this person and guided her elsewhere in the area. Ooohh... Now I hope she took my advice. I also came across Celtic Irish Pups in my search. I actually spoke to a member here who got her yorkie through this woman and she said that her puppy was quite expensive. The profit these people make at the expense of poor sickly puppies is disgusting. It's amazing that people would knowingly sell puppy mill puppies and lie about the situation to potential buyers. I would never be able to sleep at night. |

 Awful Absolutely disgusting. |

'They used to have more pics of some awful looking adult yorks with flop ears, looong muzzles and coats that looked remarkably like wheatens.' I bought my Yorkie from a puppy mill - she was an ex breeding bitch in a very bad way and she looks exactly how you just described. When I looked at the pic on that site of the Yorkie with floppy ears that's just what she looks like. I love her so much I but do sometimes look at her and think 'are you really a Yorkie'!LOL She'll always be cute to be but she is not your perfect Yorkie and she just keeps getter bigger as she gets condition on, she's so long bodied and she's nearly 11 Pounds in weight already. People were paying good money for her poor babies (they were very expensive)and can't have had a clue what they were buying. These breeders obviously only care about money - not standards. |

Irish I will tell RiniW to read this post...she visited a breeder who imports Irish pups...it was beyond horrible. |

I believe there were a few people on this board who purchased from Celtic Puppies... I called the woman @ CP maybe May of this year inquiring about the puppies for a friend of mine...and from what she told me...The Yorkies are breed by her sister who lives in Ireland..They are raised with children...They come with a 4 year health garuentee and you can visit her home at any time to interact with the pups etc...When I spoke to her she had 1 male and 1 female available... Makes you wonder if she was for real or not... |

Checked back on search and found, Goddess537, anne nyc and Sherry Lynn all got pups from Celtic Irish. Would like to hear their opinions. |

Those pictures are SO sad! :( |

OMG!!! I'm afraid to look at the link!!! Little Dublin came from Celtic Irish Puppies!! Marie, a really sweet lady on Long Island who gets them from her sister in Ireland! The puppies (she had 4 when I was there) were all clean, bright-eyed, healthy and playing in a crib in her clean and comfortable but modest living room! She gave me paperwork with the lineage (Certificate Pedigree Three Generation) that had the litter identification number, breeder and lineage on it. She also gave me a paper from the NY Dept of Agriculture with the import and health information along with 'new puppy' care instructions and shot records. A few weeks later I got the forms in the mail for registering him with the Universal Kennel Club International. (I just happen to have the folder at work with me today, and as I'm looking at it, I see the mail-in address is in Nanuet, NY. Hmmm???) Marie was referred to us by someone that works with my husband who had bought a pup from her last year and was really pleased with her pup. She was so nice and helpful-gave us a card and said to call anytime with any questions. Her young adult son was home and snuggling with them while we were there, and had to kiss & hug little Dub goodbye. The pups seemed to get lots of love and attention, and little Dublin adjusted easily to our home and has been happy and healthy. (He did have a slight cough that the vet diagnosed as kennel cough and gave me Clavamox for him - but he wasn't nearly as sick as another puppy that we got a few years ago that had kennel cough!!) OY!! I'm in shock! I work for an Irish company and lots of Irish who were quick to tell me how much better their animal laws are and to point out that they don't have rabies or parvo because of them. No quarantine to bring into the US, etc. Again, I'm afraid to follow the link! I'll have to wait until I get home... |

Yep, I really do want one of her gawd-awful Irish Reds!!! Brazil and Ireland can join our puppy millers when they ge to their afterlife and have to be judged by that BIGGEST, MEANEST JUNKYARD DOG!! that I keep hoping they will meet.. |

I have seen Celtic Irish puppies before. I liked the looks of their Cavalier King Charles spaniels. I wonder if they are a mill. I wonder if there's any way we can get more information. |

Universal Kennel Club International Please check this out and tell me what it is??? http://universalkennel.com It seems to be a family business selling dog registrations??? I just did a quick look at it and will read further when I get home, but it sure looks fishy to me... Still too upset to look at the link above. Need some of you Internet savvy sleuths to help me find out more about this. I have all of this "official looking" documentation, but it could be a pup from a mill anywhere! How do I find out about Dublin's parents, breeder, etc? |

Bump I'm going to check out the first link now. I had to get home and pour myself a drink first!! I'm so afraid of what I'll find... Meanwhile, anyone ever heard of the Universal Kennel Club International? |

Also I know KMB Farm imports Cavalier King Charles from Ireland. Joan and Crystal |

So sad. OMG that is so sad. I cant believe, i have also heard that the animal laws in Ireland are better than here. Im shock. wow  |

I'm sorry : correction to my last post it's LMB Farm that imports from Ireland. I heard they were quite nice but I never saw any. Joan & Crystal |

It just amazes me how prevalent puppy mills seem to be. it also amazes me how evil and cruel people can be for money. |

I can't open the site for Universal Kennel Club, I'll try something else. Sherry Lynn, try not to be too upset, we don't know anything definite about Celtic, and you certainly didn't know before you got Dublin that this was even a question. |

Does anyone have any info on the Wilmington, DE breeder? I know our two Yorkies came from a breeder who also bred Lhasa Apsos and their parents came from Ireland. They can only be registered with Universal Kennel Club International so I have been trying to find out more about them. Sorry to dig up such an old topic, but I am concerned they are puppy mill dogs with the whole Ireland situation. Thanks, Mel |
