I'd be the one to stay. There is not way in hell I could leave my girls to duke out such a storm. Why in this world would they not make exceptions on the busses is beyond my understanding. I think the governor should be made aware of these issues and change some policies!!!! |

Ray Nagin doesn't deserve to be governor, and to think -- they elected him again :rolleyes: fortunately i live an hour from new orleans, missed the storm and only received wind damage. but we high tailed out butts to Lufkin Texas, in 9+ hour traffic, with 4 shelties (before i had sophie) and one of my loveley shelties became carsick. so we dosed out the benedryl :) oh what an adventure. |

yorkies and katrina Thankfully, many laws have been changed since Hurricane Katrina, and doggies are now allowed in many places where people take shelter. Many states have amended laws to include the pets, so Katrina taught us terrible lessons. I just wish that law enforcement would help more with getting doggies back to the rightful owners who are still searching, and people who stole a fluffy purebred to breed would be punished severely. We all hope to take our cars and pets and evacuate, but what if a pipeline explodes and there is no gas? What then? What if law enforcement made you leave your pets at home as happened in NOLA? What if a forced evacuation took place that did not include pets? Hopefully, we will never see times like Katrina again........ |
It's so heartbreaking to read this. I know we all say we'd never leave our Yorkies, and I certainly feel that way too, but hopefully we'll never have to actually live through something like that and be told "no, they can't come with you". I honestly think I would send off the rest of my family but stay there with DH and the dogs. But what if you have very young children? That must have been such a horrible decision to have to make. |

OMG that is soo sad.. poor animals.. i would love to shoot those deputies instead.. Who can do that to these pets and the pet owners.. Breaks my heart even to read through such things. |
