We have exciting news!!!
 

We have a new addition to our family!!!

We brought home a two year old Yorkie girl that Debbie ( Mickey & Minnie's Mom/ Yorkieshadow ) told us about! :thankyou2:happyboun

Keeping with the baseball park theme we have going, her name is Camden!
( Camden Yards is the Baltimore Orioles ballpark )

She is in bad need of a spa day, so I'm holding off posting pictures until she has been beautified and then I will post!

I would love any and all advice on the best way to get the three dogs used to each other!
Crosley is 6 yrs old ( 17 lbs Yorkie Poo )
Wrigley is a 2 yr old Yorkie ( 6lbs even )
Camden is 2 and 5.01 lbs, but she needs to shave off a pound! :eek:

Her story is she had puppies in January and had a c-section and the two puppies didn't make it and she was spayed.
She looks totally different from Wrigley, Wrigley is light and Camden is black & gold, much lower to the ground and shorter in length!
We love her already and want to give her the best home possible!! :hug:

Right now we are keeping her separated from the other two because she has an eye and ear infections :sad:
We will at the advice of our vet do that for a few more days, we are really nervous on what we should and shouldn't do for the adjustment period! We want them to all get along, be the best of friends and sisters and never fight! :crazy: I know that's not too much to ask for!

Crosley loves everyone, so we aren't as concerned about her!
Wrigley is skittish, scared of everyone and scared of change! She's also been the dominant one with Crosley ( even though Crosley is three times her size ) She takes every toy from her and bosses her around, so we are most worried on getting her to adjust! We are hoping in the long run, they will be great playmates since they are the same age and about the same size!!

Congratulations!!! I love his name, and I named my Jake after our baseball field, which was "Jacobs Field" until this year when they changed it to "Progressive Field".:rolleyes:

When I brought my second male (Jackson) home, Jake was very jealous at first. He was curious about Jackson, but he really wouldn't play with him. Jake got very mad at me, wouldn't let me hold him for the first couple days....made me so sad. But, I just kept making sure I paid lots of attention to him as well as Jackson. It took about a week for Jake to "accept" Jackson, and now they are buddies and play together ALL the time. Of course, they always find one toy to bicker over lol.

I think the main thing right now is to let them get used to each other gradually, on their own terms. I watched my two very closely at first to make sure there was no fighting or aggressive behavior. Jackson is the bigger of the two at 6 1/2 lbs. Jake is 4 1/2 lbs. It almost seems as if Jackson realizes that Jake is smaller and he has to be more careful with him. They do get into some rough playing, but I usually try to stand back and let them do what they do.....of course, I would step in if anything got out of hand. Just make sure you pay the same amount of attention to all of them. Before you know it, they will all be best of friends and have fun together. My boys are inseparable now.:)

Try to nip any aggressive behavior in the bud. I think in the beginning, Jackson thought he could be the "alpha" around here. He would kind of push through Jake to get toys or to get attention. I stopped that behavior in the beginning and let him know that it's ME that is the "alpha". Once they learn that, everything goes so much smoother.

hehe that reminds me its bath at my house also...should have been on Sunday but was down with a migraine...the joy of giving 6 dogs a bath...hehe...so looking forward to it.

I'm from around Cincinnati, I didn't even realize they had changed Jacob's field, I always loved the way that sounded!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate all your advice, I think my Mother and I both so nervous about that! We keep telling ourselves they are going to bicker and quarrel, just like siblings do, but you just want them to get along and love each other!
We keep praising all three of them and are really trying to pay attention to all of them, we don't want anyone to feel slighted!
Did you immediately allow them near each other or did you keep one on a leash or anything until they sniffed and got used to one another?
Hearing that your two are best of friends now really gives me hope that it will work out like that for us!

I did immediately allow them near each other, but I was right there with them. I was lucky, there was no fighting or growling or anything like that. They were both just very curious of each other, but I could tell Jake wasn't liking the idea at first. I just kind of let them sniff each other and check each other out. Jake a big mama's boy, so I just kept encouraging him and telling him what a good boy he was, etc. Jackson would try to curl up with Jake to nap, but Jake wasn't having any part of that! He would just get up and walk away. I pretty much let them sort it out, just making sure I was always there to supervise. They gradually warmed up to each other. I felt like I just had to let them take it at their own pace, and just make sure there wasn't any aggressive behavior. I didn't leave them alone together until I was sure they would be okay with that. If I pet one, I pet the other too because I wanted to make sure they were both getting the same attention. I think once Jake realized that mommy was still going to spoil him, he was fine lol. But, Jake is very laid back and calm.....very very playful, but he's quiet. My boys are total opposites in every way. Jake finally realized that Jackson was a pretty cool playmate, so it all worked out.....thank goodness!:D

Wrigley is really attached to my Mom and needs to know where she is at all times, I'm sure she's going to be jealous at first. I think if Camden jumps all over her, that will freak Wrigley out and she will probably growl at her. She gets very nervous when the dog next door jumps up at her on the fence. If he doesn't jump at her, then she will smell him through the fence and offer her backside to him ( lovely I know )
It's good to know that even though your boys are opposites it works out! It's too early to tell exactly how Camden will be, she is still coming out of her shell. Though she likes playing with toys and usually Wrigley is in charge of the toys ( in her mind anyway )

hehe...give them the bath isn't the hard part...its the drying and the brushing...hehe...i normally give do 3 of them at a time...of course with the help of the fiancee...hehe....in exchange for his time on the computer playing games...hehe

Hiii, congrats on your new addition. What worked for me ... when I brought Jazzie home, I took both furkids to the backyard. I let them explore each other, run, play, when they were exhausted, then I brought them in. The next day Zander looked at Jazzie like - what are you still doing here. They are best pals. Jazzie is the instigator of play, she likes to grab his back leg and off they go from there :D. Very important ... Be relaxed so that the pups can be relaxed too. Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice! We did that on Sunday, we took them to the yard and our other two went up and sniffed her and she sat leaning against our fence.
She is in a playpen and or confined to a room away from them right now because of her ear/eye infections, but they go up to the playpen or baby gate and look at her and walk away.
We just gave her a bath and Wrigley sat and watched the whole time, Crosley wanted no part. I think she was afraid she was next!
Camden did great with the bath, she never made a peep!

I know you are right being relaxed will be the key once they are all loose together! I will start my deep breathing exercises now!

I dont know how I missed this thread. Im just now seeing it. Im so so happy you got that girl. and I hope they all get along great. she so needed some one to love and spoil her. I dont think shes ever been loved on before. I cant wait to see pictures. and I cant wait to find out for sure if her and Mickey have the same daddy. I sure shes so thankful to you for taking her in to such a great loving home. bless you .

She's coming out of her shell more and more and I think she's going to be a playful little thing, she loves toys! She loves the little butterfly that is attached to the mesh side in her playpen. It's so cute, she comes out of her bed, hits it and then runs back into her bed!
She was an angel when we gave her a bath, she stood there and didn't fight us or make a whimper!
We want to give her the best home and the most loving home possible!!!
