You guys! I just got an email from one of my local news reporters, and she's interested in doing a story on puppy mills! She wants me to call her!

This is so exciting, I can't hardly wait to get in contact with her.

Awesome, please update us on the situation ,it's great to get some exposure

I actually emailed the station and said I would like to see a story about mills. She was forwarded the email and responded.

I leave Columbus in 2 weeks, so I'm going to try to do this as soon as possible.

I am writing to suggest a segment/story about puppy mills. These are breeding factories with inhumane conditions and horrible cruelty in several forms. They exist everywhere in the United States. Typically, these mills breed puppies until the mothers die. Normally, the puppies are sold at an unhealthily young age to pet stores.
I'd like you to consider covering this subject, as many people are unaware of the danger involved in supporting this evil industry. I also believe that, in doing so, you can showcase the sensitivity and caring nature of the employees of your station.

I found this LIST of people who also can be contacted - this is the most comprehensive list I've seen

This is the list of agencies to report the puppy mill to. You should follow this order in reporting them. The reason to follow the order is that the goal is to permanently shut them down. Mills are in the industry to make money. They make money because they have the ability to say their dogs are “AKC”.

You want the first agency involved to be the agency that can do the greatest amount of damage to the operation. The AKC has that power.

I just e-mailed my letter to WXYZ Channel 7 in Detroit. I hoping since I am a Canadian viewer that they will acknowledge me. Let's hope I get the same results as SillyJacki!

I'm going to send one to other news stations too, but I have to get back to work right now.

I know that a lot of people do no have any clue as to where these poor puppies come from, and I'm sure as soon as the word gets out, there will be some mills that won't be here anymore, YIPEEE!...

This would be really important. Educating the public is the key. I think most people don't have an idea where the puppies in those stores come from.

I sent out about 20 emails today - Some to TV stations - I had 3 emails read so far - and ONE answered by Houston's KPRC a MAJOR top 3 station.

I just got a reply from one of the local news stations that I e-mailed. All they said was:
Hopefully they write a story on them. In my original e-mail, I directed them to several websites, including millbusters.com, to supply them with more information. I am still waiting on a reply from the other news station that I e-mailed. I hope they do a story on it! Thanks again for inspiring me! We need to improve public awareness!

I'm so glad you guys are sending letters, too! I look at some of the stories on the news and think they're ridiculous... And here's a great chance for the news people to do something worth reporting. I think it's appealing to them to, because, sadly, there's a lot of drama and sadness... and we all know drama means high ratings.

You know what, whatever their reason is......I could care less! As long as they do a story about the horror of puppy mills, their ratings could triple and I'd be happy! Just as long as we get the word out. I think you're all awesome people!!
