Oh my goodness, it is so easy to have more than one.... |
My hubby and I went to a party many years ago...in walks my girlfriend wearing a pair of bib jeans, and in the front pocket was a Yorkie pup peeking out. I knew then and there that I would have a Yorkie some day, some way. At the time we lived in an apartment, so I waited...until we bought a house. Times were not easy, money was tight...so I waited...until the night I won the jack-pot at the local Bingo parlor. Hubby said I could spend it on anything I wanted...and I wanted a Yorkie. That was in 1992...his name was Spencer...he was the love of our life's...he meant everything to us. Sadly he passed away...we were both devastated for months, we swore we would never get another...it hurt so bad to lose him. Then it dawned on us, we were being selfish...we could give another Yorkie a home, a forever...loving home...so we got Winston. Bless his little heart...he has stolen ours. Now I know that I will never be Yorkieless...I will forever and always have and love Yorkies... |
This was waaaaay before the internet!! I had been looking for years for a Skye Terrier and was not sucessful. My friend and I went on a day trip to Payson, AZ and saw an add for Yorkies. We went to look and I came home with Amy!! She was only 5 weeks old and I got her for a lower price because she was the "runt" of the litter of 4 girls. I knew nothing about the breed but knew I was in love with Amy. She was my constant companion and best friend for 15 years. This is how dumb I was: I didnt know they were born black and tan and I was a little disappointed that the mom was a beautiful light blue and gold and Amy wasnt.LOL |
My hubby had always wanted a Jack Russell terrier and we got one in 2003 (cleverly named Jack). But in 2004, hubby unexpectedly became very sick and was in the hospital 8 times in the next 2 years. He could no long walk Jack or play with him as much as before and everytime hubby would be gone to the hospital, Jack would go nuts, tearing up everything he could get hold of. So, we placed Jack with the Navy and he became a drug detection dog. My hubby was very very very sad. I knew that we needed to find a dog that fit our changed and very quiet lifestyle and my husband's physical limitations. So, after lots of research, we settled on a Yorkie and MAN 'O MAN was that the BEST decision we EVER made. First Rowdy and next Rexy -they just live to make us (especially hubby) happy. Neither one is ever more than a few feet away from us. They will sit in hubby's lap all day, they will take a short walk with him if he is able. They will ride in the stroller if we take them shopping. They are so happy to do whatever we are doing. When hubby talks about them, his eyes just light up and he smiles. He says, "they are the light of my life" (hey, what about me! ;) That is very important for someone who is very seriously and very unexpectedly very sick at a young age (55). These little guys keep him entertained and feeling uplifted everyday! Don't know what we'd do without them! :) |
I have a shih tzu who is on the small side and I wanted to get her a friend. The lady advertising shih had HUGE pups and when I mentioned they were to large for Chloe she pulled out her yorkies. I fell in love them then and there and Ill never look back. |
I've had dogs my entire life. When I remarried 8 yrs ago I couldn't take my dog with me because I was moving into an apartment. She stayed with my X, who was very good to her. New hubby doesn't really like dogs but, I told him I was getting one anyway. All he asked is that I get a dog that doesn't shed. I wanted something small as I always had big dogs. My first choice was a Maltese but, didn't like the fact that they were pure white. I have seen many with the stained eyes. Then I was thinking a chihuahua (yes they shed but are small), then the papillion. Then I thought WHAT ABOUT A YORKIE!! I researched the breed and decided this was the breed for me! I found a breeder not far from me. I bought Sadie 3 yrs ago and Lillie approx 2 yrs ago. OH! although hubby didn't want me to get "the girls" they are the first ones to get a kiss when he comes home from work! |

My sister had a yorkie, named Rhett Butler, and I fell in love with the yorkie breed because of him. I was Rhett's favorite human...aside from his family...and they couldn't even say my name at their house or Rhett would go crazy wanting to come see me. I loved that yorkie...and he spent a lot of good times with me. When we told Rhett we loved him, Rhet would say, "Ra Ruv Roo." When we lost Rhett, we didn't even think of getting another dog for quite some time. Once I decided I wanted one, it had to be a yorkie! Now I have 2, and if I ever get another, it shall also be a yorkie! |
Well, I have always been a cat person and my husband and I got two cats when we first got married because we were commuting to work 2 hours a day. That was in 2000 but now we have moved closer to work and are closer to home. So the last few years I started thinking about getting a dog but never really thought about it seriously. But my husband was diagnosed with End Stage Kidney Disease this past December and we were really depressed about the situation. A friend of mine is a breeder and had a litter ready for Christmas so I brought home a puppy for my husband. Maybelline has lifted our spirits so much and my husband is totally in love!!!! She can always make you smile and laugh even when you don't really feel like it. |
My hubbie and I had finally bought a house. We already had Hunter, a 90lb Lab and I wanted a little dog so I started reading about different breeds and decided on a Yorkie or Chinese Crested. So we looked around and I found Zeus [Crested] and had to have him. He was 4 1/2mo old and had been neglected by the woman I got him from. He had really bad seperation anxiety and I had tried every thing. Finally I told my husband that we needed to get him a puppy [Hunter didn't want any thing to do with him] So we started looking for another Crested because I had just fallen in love with Zeus when we came across this lady with 2 Yorkie poo puppies and decided to take the little boy. I worked out even better than I expected!! They love each other and pretty much leave Hunter alone. Best of all I can leave the room with out Zeus crying like he was dieing and peeing on the floor!!!!:D Brutis is a sweet little naughty!! |
