Who Has A Stroller And When Do You Use It?? My family makes fun of me, but I want a pink stroller. I'm just not sure what benefits it would provide, and since they are expensive I'm still just looking at them. What is your experience, can you take them into restaurants, grocery stores, etc.??? Thanks for your input. |
I like using it mostly at the Vets. Their feet don't touch the ground, I don't have to carry them and my hands are free to take care of the paperwork. |
We have the pink stroller by Pet Gear. We used it at the Yorkiefair in Michigan last year and strolling around downtown Ann Arbor, it came in handy at the farmer's market! We also used it in the Christmas reindog parade in Cincinnati. We haven't used it a whole lot otherwise, we figured it would be good in large crowd situations! |
I have one, I probably used it twice. When I bought it my husband criticized me for getting it because "your supposed to walk them, not push them". I used it at a picnic in the beach and it helped allot but it was kinda annoying because they wouldn't keep still. They would just complain because they are stuck inside it. I think I'm better off with an xpen for those situations, but I'm still looking at getting one. I highly doubt that you can take them inside the restaurant or grocery stores because of hygiene issues, not because people can't see them. |
Most people are oblivious and don't notice them in stores, but I wouldn't attempt a restaurant or grocery store because the second I stop pushing they yip or scratch to get out. It's obvious I don't have a baby in there! I have only used mine a couple times. It is useful at a crowded parade/fair or when I'm going to have them out for a long time and need all of their stuff. Loki is too big to carry far in a bag so if I'm out with both of them, I take it and sometimes use it. If it's just Sammy, I put her in her bag. I also used it when Sammy had surgery and couldn't walk far so I pushed her while Loki walked. My dogs would truly rather walk. I have a Pet Gear special edition. |
I have a stroller for Murfee. I have only used it once but I LOVE it. I think when we start traveling again I will use it more and I KNOW I will use it in KC. |

Hehe....my husband says the very same thing! I dont have one, but have looked at them at the pet store. If I brought one home I think my hubby would leave me! |
I have the burberry plaid one and I love it! I do go to a lot of dog events, flea markets, public places with my Cricket. She behaves and does not yip, so I take her to a lot of other places where dogs are not usually allowed. People assume it is a baby if you have the front covered, lol. I use mine all the time, and would not be without it. I got it on eBay for about $60.00 which included the shipping. Look for "ylow plaid pet stroller" if you want the burberry look. I just got mine, it's the Jeep Wrangler! I like it a lot! I wanted a pink one also but knew my bf prob. wouldn't push it so mine is sand colored. It pushes very easily and light weight. I haven't taken them out in it yet, but I think this week i will. |

We also have the pink Pet Gear one. We used it yesterday actually in the mall shopping for a formal dress. I put Layla in there and cover the front with a blanket (like mom's do with new borns) and no one had a clue... she was good as gold. I didn't go in the food court with her because i won't take her anywhere they serve food. We have also used it shopping while we were in michigan. That is the reason we bought it. When we go away at Christmas we shop a lot and it was too much carrying Layla in her bag (VERY hard on the shoulders!). |
I mainly use mine when I go to those doggie shows or petfest so i can browse without having to worry about her running away or something . . or the park . . .where it is always safer for her to be in especially if there are way too many people . . .:) I think it is worth the investment. |
I use mine when I walk @ night we live in the country and would never let them walk on a leash but this way they get to go and I don't have to worry about them. |

I have a blue one. We use it to go to Home Depot, the Mall and we used it to go to Maine. My husband made fun of me for getting it, but he finally had to admit that it was invaluable when we went to Maine. Conner is quiet in it when he is tired, but if he is not he does not want to stop. If you stop the stroller, he scratches. I also use a blanket to cover the front. |
We have a stroller for bella we use it if we go somewhere really crowded and I don't want her getting trampled. |
I have two, a Petpy Love and a Pet Gear. I like the Petpy Love the best, it is not so heavy and cumbersome. I got the stroller initially so Gracie could go outside for walks with Holly and I after Gracie had her bilateral knee surgery. It worked great. And when she could start walking again, it was only a bit at a time so we would walk one lap, then put her in the stroller for the rest of the walk. I plan to use it when I take them to crowded places like farmer's markets etc. where I don't want to risk them getting stepped on. I will also probably take it with us to the beach, one to bring them into restrooms with me ;) and two, if they get tired while walking on the beach they can ride back. I have this habit of losing myself at the beach and walking way too far, then wondering how I will get back! :) It is one of those items that you probably won't use every day, or even every week, but it is an essential for certain occasions. I find it especially helpful when hauling two Yorkies around at the same time. |
I have a stroller that I got on Ebay as well. I think I paid $50 which included shipping. My hubby thought I was crazy for wanting to get one, but I've used it at the Michigan Yorkie Fair, shopping at our pet-friendly outdoor mall and it was absolutely the best thing we had with us when we took them to Myrtle Beach on vacation last year. I use it all the time when we go to the vet as well. I like that their feet don't need to touch the ground and I don't have to worry about what one is doing while the other is on the exam table. |
In Florida where I live it is almost as common to see a dog in a stroller as a baby. I use one at least twice a week. I have had a booth in a flea market for about 10 years. Dogs could go there, but, they had to be carried. So everyone that went there on a weekly basis went out and bought dog strollers. Since, I was selling dog hats and sunglasses in my booth, I started to sell them there as well. Since I have so many dogs it is necessary to keep them altogether when we go out. We have two strollers and I attach a dog backpack to each stroller. That way we can all go out together and no one gets hurt or lost. And we really don't care if people make fun of us!!! Kathy |
i use mine whenever i am in a big crowd, and dont have to worry about them getting stepped on ! |
We have the Blue Pet GEar Stroller...I love it....I use it to go to the Vets office.....outdoor events, etc.....lol...Hubby walks behind us like he does not know us...But I don't care...It is a life saver for me.... Joyce |
Just got Parker one, and I haven't used it yet. I bought it to use in KC and some of the festivals here, because they are so crowded. I also plan to use it when we go to our local Petsmart, I am not crazy about letting him walk in there. |
I have a blue Pet Gear one and I paid nothing for it;) My mom got it for me because she knew my husband thought they were to silly and would never let me get one myself:rolleyes:( Mom has 2 girl Yorkies and said they are handy to have) I have not used mine yet because I got Jeter in the last weekend of November too cold to take him out in it. Thankfully the weather just started to get nice and I plan on taking Jeter to events that Downtown Sandusky has all summer long, it get crowded and I will feel safe having him a bit more protected from all those feet, he's so tiny:eek: we don't need him to get stepped on! |
I haven't bought one yet, but I'm planning on getting one soon. Since having two yorkies, I can see how a stroller would make life easier if we go places that are crowded or when we go camping. The stroller is also a great place for them to sleep if we are somewhere spending the day outdoors. I like the ones that double as a car seat. |
Oh, that sounds handy. Which ones double as a car seat?? |

we use our stroller when we go to the vets, go to flea markets in florida, if we go to an outlet mall...we like to take our dogs with us if we are planning on going for a day..then we know they are safe and with us..we love our stroller..anne |
sorry that was a double post... |
I have 2 strollers, a PetGear and AT3 All Terrain Pet Stroller. I mostly use the AT3 because it is really big and I can fit my 2 fluffs in there with room to spare. There are a lot of malls near me that allow pets and I mostly use it to take them to the mall. I also used it when we stayed at the beach last year and it was a lifesaver. We walked the strip and there was a lot of people around and it kept them safe and comfy. |
