Give Oprah Some Credit!!!!:thumbup:I am new here and have gotten some wonderful information while researching on Yorkshire Terriers! I have found the people extremely friendly, and good company. However I am shock at the --hater/bashing being done to Oprah, even on non puppymill issues. Oprah show may have missed the mark more so as not to get another gazillionth monster lawsuits on her hands, I heard she has a ton of them while speak! When I saw the last show about the dogs being euthanized I cried and I think many more in America cried as well and will get their pets fixed! Oprah has built rows and rows of new homes for Katrina victims, made awareness worldwide on women and children physical and sexual abuse here and worldwide. There was a time these victims suffered in silence until Oprah brought it out into th open! And what about the beautiful school she built for those girls in africa. She has tryed you cant be everthing to everybody.--I think Oprah is more tired thay anything else, she has a lot of irons in the fire and plans to leave the show in a couple of years. --so lets give her some credit----------D.W. |

I am glad that some people think that Opra's show did some good for the doggie population. I was not too crazy about her follow up show but not liking her all that much and her not taking a stronger position in regard to store sold animals colored my view of her whole puppy mill episode. But those of you who do like her might have been able to see more benefit than I did. Sorry to post this so long after discussion has ended but I am having my own little medical problem.;) tina |
No good deed goes unpunished..She is one person who tries to use her voice to reach as many as she can. Not everyone will always agree with every word she says but I do not believe she does things for ratings or anything else other then to help bring awareness to those who are not aware of what goes on around this planet. How many of us contributed to Katrina, built homes for the homeless, sent kids to college, built schools, helped abused and battered women and the list goes on..come on people..her heart is in the right place and she earned every dime she has..how many other millionares do you see contribute as much as she? ps..She did have tears in her eyes during the show..lets not be so quick to cast stones..peace. |
Wow, that's sad. Another reason not to like her. :) |
I like Oprah....:(. I think she is very giving and caring. Am I missing something... |

She is full of it and knows that for the most part those pups come from Mills. Honestly a lot of big celebrities only donate for the tax breaks. I think if they truly want to be part of a solution they will do more than just give a few bucks ever so often and then do their best to get publicity from it...JMO |
ll be honest her and obama scare the crap out of me!! its scares me that they have joined "forces" and they both have such a pull on the public (sorry dont want to offend someone on their political views) ..i think they are both fake and say only what they need to to get ratings...whats that saying the evil tells you what you want to hear?? i dont know the direct quote |
I've watched Oprah on and off all these years and used to really like her and still do to some extent but...her shows used to be so much better. I like it when she covers the more serious topics, but that is just me. She almost always breaks her show up into 2 segments now on different topics and I don't care for it. I just didn't feel any passion coming out of her for the puppy mill show. Her tears were mostly for Sophie and I thought it was weird she started out the first show with a tribute to Sophie who I am sure had a nice life, instead of focusing on the mill situation. It almost seemed at times during the show she had trouble focusing on the issue at hand. Then on the update she donated for a room in the shelter, but it had to be dedicated to Sophie with her pictures etc. Didn't one of her Goldens die recently from swallowing a toy or bone the wrong way? Why didn't she mention that? Hmmm she has gotten fake and elitist. I know a lot of people seem to love Obama but all my husband and I say is, "where did he come from"? His debating skills suck. I sure hope Hillary takes it because I am comfortable and confident giving her my vote. |
I personally don't like Opera... issues from a few years ago (if anyone wants know know please PM me.. I will not post public):thumbdown she thinks she's who knows what... but yet.. but yet.. considers herself to be "one of us" gimmie a break |
