I am so sorry this happend to sweet cutie Cody & Mommy too! There have been so many threads in discussion about this. I guess we (for those of us not brave enought to try grooming) will have to explicitly say before we leave our babies in their hands, "If you feel the need to shave any part of my sweet babies body - DO NOT - call me - I will pick them up asap"!! Maybe make a tag on their collar in case they Forget! |
Finding a Good Groomer is a Miracle! I don't know what groomers are thinking these days, but it seems like the staff seems to be in another world when it comes to them doing what they "think" you asked for. I recently found a really good groomer at Petco. Usually, I would never recommend anyone go to Petco or Petsmart for anything, because they overcharge and the customer service has always been *^&$%^!! in my experience. This groomer was recommended from a friend (and her dog looked great) so I tried it and was pleasantly suprised. Keep searching for a GOOD groomer, try to bring a picture of what you want also. If it comes down to it, give them specifics like: don't touch his/her face and take no more than bla bla cm off. For what it's worth, I'm sorry for your and Cody's very bad experience. Tell Cody to hang in there, his handsome coat will be back before he knows it. Quote:

sadly Lots of groomers are kinda dumb/quirky/uneducated. Not to insult my own group of peers, but in Michigan, and in the USA in general, there is no licensing requirement, no testing, just grab a pair of scissors and a clipper and you are in business! Most of the "groomers" pet smart and other stores like them use are learning to groom on your pets! This is common practice. They have a supervisor with barely enough training to do a good job themselves, and they are on their own... This is sad because it gives us all a bad name. I am an educated woman, college degree in nursing, and I try to be conscientious in my work, and compassionate in my care of others pets. I always put myself in the pets place and imagine how they feel in the grooming salon. Scared, nervous, whatever...but so many groomers are ignorant, do what they want, and often do not treat the pets in their care very nicely, or their owners for that matter. JMHO...
