I am a complete wreck:( I thought I would be okay, but I am so NOT. I just dropped my sweet Mango off at the vet to be spayed this morning. Now I am sitting here just besides myself. I know that this is a procedure that is done millions of times, but this is my baby, my treasure, my heart, that is being operated on and I just can't stand it.:( The Vet said I could pick her up just before closing today. I would SO appreciate any pointers as to what I should do when she comes home to make her more comfortable. Do I keep the collar on her, or should I put her in a onesie?? She normally HATES clothes, but will she hate the collar more? If I don't put anything on her, I am afraid she will harm the incision. The Vet does the surgery by laser, so I am hoping this lessens the trauma to her little body. Argh!! I cannot stand this.Help!!!!! Lauren |
aww hunni im sure your baby will be fine, my girl hasnt been done yet, but i know i will be just as worried as you. just make sure you spoil your baby when she gets home! :D |
I just went through this.... I PMed you... call me if you want! |
I haven't been through this yet, but I'll keep you in my thoughts! |
I know how you feel; it's so scary the thought of something happening to our special sweethearts. You're lucky to have found a vet who uses the laser; from everything I"ve read recovery time is much faster. I think the collars are so awfull, and she will look so cute in a onesie, so I'd go with that. Wishing you the best of luck! |
Mika got loose and ran down the street with her stitches like a bat out of hell. Tore them too, but it still healed so well you can't even see a scar. |
Aw hon sending prayers and good vibes your way. |
Don't have any advice for spaying but my lil guy just got neutered 2 weeks ago, he did great! Everything will be fine! Seending hugs :) |
1 Attachment(s) Oh, I know how you feel (hug). I put a shirt on mine when they were spayed. They did well...they were just groggy and sleepy the first day. When Juju was spayed, I put her in the x-pen away from Betty...just in case Betty hurt her. Betty stayed by the pen...worrying about her, I think (see pic). Good luck to sweet Mango. I am sending a prayer and a hug to her! |
I know how you feel. I am always a wreck when any of mine have to go in for surgery. Try and keep busy, Are they going to call when she is out of surgery, that usually eases mnd knowing they are done and recovering. I used a onsie on Cali and it worked great. It was so soft and helped protect the area. |
MY baby was just spayed Thrusday and I've been carrying her around ever since. Since they are not allowed to jump, run and so on for at least a week, keeping them very still causes them to be a bit chilly, so I suggest some soft clothes like jammies or fleece shirts. If you have a sling, that would be the way to go if she won't stay quiet in her crate or expen. Razael does the jumping jacks, so I have to carry her. If you don't have a sling, you can take a T-shirt that's too small for you and cut it in half right under the sleeves and use the bottom half to drape over one shoulder. She probably won't each much at all due to not getting exercise. My baby isn't eating hardly anything, but she's still ok. I just put her in her expen long enough for her to potty on the pads and to eat. When I'm on the computer, she lays on a little blanket on my lap and gets to chew on something special. We also cuddle with her in the evenings when we are watching TV. When I took her in on Thursday morning at 8:00 am, I came home and tore this house apart cleaning, moping, vacuuming, bathing Zada and Azrael and it sure helped me get thru the day without too much worry. You will do fine and so will she. ;) |
Aww hun don't worry! Your baby will be fine! |
Awwwwww, 's to you. I am sure she will be fine, but we do worry, don't we? When mine come home I usually keep them isolated away from the others ...especially the first few days, as they smell differently and they all want to be all over her to see where she has been. I also keep her very quiet and carry her to go outdoors. ( we have outside stairs that would be too much for her to handle). Then, I just gradually allow her to move about at her own pace and usually within a few days she is doing much better. Prayers for a speedy recovery ..... |

Prayers from "back home".... Aaawww Lauren, I feel for you ! The day CoCo went for her spay I told my vet in Bedfordview I was going to camp out in their garden area and wait there all day. I didn't ;) but did spend the day at Eastgage, so that I could be near if needed. Needless to say, all went well and she was fine. Just a bit groggy and a little sore. After lots of loving and a good night sleep she was about back to normal by the next evening:) I see a lot on here put a onesie (babygrow?) on their babies, sounds like a good idea, if I'd know about that back then, I would have done the same. I will be thinking of you pacing up & down :Pawprint: , stay on here, I'm sure we'll be able to keep you company, or go and do a really crappy chore that you've been putting off for ages:eek: Sending prayers for sweet Mango for a safe procedure and quick recovery. :ghug: oh and I'm holding thumbs :awink: Sheilagh |
