Could i even bathe her yet? Hey guys, i just posted a thread about products for bathing my Abby. I asked my aunt to ask her wat she used and she told me i shudn't bathe her yet?!! My Abbys is almost 3 months old and she's been with me since last Sunday. I'm just wondering if its ok to bathe her. I called the vet and the lady put me on hold and then said it was ok to take a shower? Am i missing something here???? Why wouldn't i be able to bathe her yet as my aunt says???!!! |
hmm i'm not an expert but i dont see why you cant give her a bath. did she just have surg or something? i gave lacey a bath the same night i got her at 9 weeks, maybe i'm cruel. |

It's not too young to give her a bath, but I would suggest you find a very mild puppy shampoo and then dilute it with water so it doesn't irritate their skin. Make sure it's tear-free too! Puppies can be pretty feisty in the tub so make sure you're very careful to not get water in their ears. Make sure the water isn't too cold also! You can test it by running it on the inside of your wrist, like you'd test a baby bottle. Afterwards, make you dry her off well (or blow dry) so that she doesn't get too cold! :) |

I'd bathe her. I would use a cup to gentle pour water on her. If you are going to put her in a tub of water, I'd be very nervous that her nose would go under (maybe I'm just a worrier). |

yeah i still use the kitchen sink for lacey and she is a year old, its easier and i also have the sprayer. |
THe first bath is stressful to them. I know that you want your pup to be really feeling comfortable in your home before bathing. It is still pretty chilly here so I blow dry my babies and they hate it...More stress... Just be carful to introduce new thigns t your baby slowly. They sell puppy wipes to help if they are getting a bit stinky. I would wait a few more days and use the wipes. Make sure it is warm in your home, I have a little heater I use to blow n them while they are being bathed. You will love the just bathed smell of your puppy when you do give it a bath!:D |
Hello everyone! I am new in this website but i've read a couple of threads now...I have 2 yorkies male and a female which are 6 months and 2 months old I didn't buy them from a reutable breeder I thought the pet shop was good until now... but hopefully nothing will happened to them.I love them they are so lovable, gentle and very loyal... |
the earlier they learn about baths the better..just make sure it is warm enough.. you can gauge this by how much she shivers..good luck |
yes she can have a bath in your sink at this age. Go slow, do not scare her with the sound of rushing water, and use a gentle puppy shampoo that will not sting her eyes. Young dogs can be bathed. when I bred them I would bath them weekly from 6-7 weeks of age, and gently blow dry them with warm air on the lowest setting. Avoid a draft and keep talking soothingly to your puppy. Make it a fun experience and she will do fine. Sue & Cricket :aimeeyork |
