Question...Do Yorkies get mad? Do Yorkies get mad? I mean like "mad at us" for leaving them? I only crate Furgie when we go somewhere that she can not go and sometimes at night if she is sick or stinky, so a few time a week she may be created for some reason or other....but when we get back she's all shaking, lowering her head and pulls away from me when I go to get her out. I'm confused...It's as if she is mad and she don't want me to touch her...yet she does, She will do this in the mornings when I crate her over night too What is this? :( Do any of you go through this and how do I help her with it...it is just gonna aways happen...you know...LIFE! |
I don't think she's mad. It seems like she frightened she may have done something to make you mad at her/hence the shaking. Poor baby. |
Well how do I help her understand?...she is never crated cause she has done something. I just tell her NO and remove her from it or it from her and move on....She does seem to be a bit sensitive. I wish I could fix that...sometimes my normal voice is too much so I have had to train myself to speak in a higher pitch then she is fine. |
i don't think that's a sign of anger.. she seems more scared than anything but i honestly do believe yorkies get mad.. haha.. or at least a little irritated.. |
separation anxiety? I'm going to look that up. but she pulls away like she's mad...I don't get it. |
I don't crate Murfee so I don't know about that but Murfee does pout. I left him with my daughter once for 2 days and he pouted for about 2 days when we got back. He doesn't do that anymore but then he only gets left when I go someplace he can't go....like the grocery store. Good luck. |
In my experience Yorkies do get mad and will pout. My husband had never seen a dog get mad before and thinks it is just the coolest thing! |
I think that they are capable of getting mad depending on their personalities. I know my lil one knows when I am picking her up in the morning to put her in her xpen so I can go to work and she will turn her head away from me when I ask for sweetness (kisses). It's just to cute, it's like she's saying I'm not going to give you kisses cuz your going to be leaving me again....she does however get over it and smothers me with kisses when I get back home :p |
Tucker doesn't seem to know how to be mad, but Lexie definitely does! She doesn't give me kisses after baths, eye cleanings, or anything else she doesn't enjoy. She'll turn her head and run away from me. brat |
Yell she gets over it...in just abit but it takes babying. Then were happy till the next time. Anyways we are going to have to kennel her this coming weekend when I go to Ga to see my brother. His wife doesn't like dogs. I sure hate that for Furgie but I have not choose. It is her house. I told hubby tonight about my question here and he said oh yell animals do get mad...only it is more of away of showing you that I am not happy with you, not mad, but more like sulling/sulking. He said our jersey "Daisy" will blow, turn her head and snort when he is late feeding her...He said she's done this for years. So I think Furgie is actually saying I am not happy with you for leaving me....pet me up and we will be best friends again...the nervous shaking ...shrug* maybe she's scared I am going to get mad cause she is mad....I dunno! But she is a bit of a weirdo...sometimes. LOL well I was wondering what all this is about and I think I know now. I think we really never know whats going on in their little heads. ~/~ |
i know just how you feel. jojo shakes like crazy when i put her in her crate.... i'm buying a cd for separation anxiety, i'm hoping that helps!! |

I wish you the best though and you never know it may work for yours.:D |
It's music... my only problem is i come home for lunch after 4 hours.... but the cd only lasts for a little over an hour i think... but anyways, they actually have done studies on this cd, i havent read too much into it yet, but it's worth a try to me! :-) have you also ever thought of the petcams? you have a webcam set up to watch them and you can view them online at work or wherever you are. i also want to try that just to see how long she is sad and barking after i leave. but anyways, the cd is called through a dogs ear : throughadogsear.com i'll have to let you know what i think of it, unless you end up getting it too! There's other kinds of pet music like this but i just recently heard good things about this one. :-) Quote:

Ok first of all, the answer to your problem...I ALWAYS leave the TV on (cable) when I leave. That seems to help a lot. And to answer your question, yes they do get mad. Mine will go pout if they get in trouble or you don't go to them first over another baby. I have 9 to see when I walk in the house, so I just sort of pick whoever is standing near me first to pick up and kiss...and I go through them one by one. If Maddie isn't first she will pout for the rest of the night. Maddie also HATES diapers. She's trained but I always put one on her at night just in case. When the diaper comes out her head goes down and her tail between her legs...and she hides under the bed. And with Maddie, kisses have to be HER idea. If you try to kiss her and make the kissy noises, she makes what i call the "brat face" and turns her head quickly with her chin up. She's so funny... ;) :D |
in crates all day? Quote:
think of what is best for your pet.. not yourself there has got to be another answer for these poor caged dogs..:animal-pa :thumbdown |
Poor Baby!! Coby can get stingy with his kisses if he's feeling a bit "dissed" but that's not too often. But Coby loves his kennel no matter when he has to go in. But I think that might be because we spent a great deal of training on going in the crate when we first got him. That got nearly as much "hoopla" and treats as pottying on the paper - because we knew there'd be times he'd be crated, and sometimes crated in a hurry. (In the morning, if we put our coats on - or if I just put my lipgloss on in the kitchen, he runs into his kennel and waits for his treat.) Hopefully, with some separation anxiety work and maybe some extra special crate treats, she'll not mind so much. :( |

"i think a kinder solution would be to fence off a room where the dog can have room to move all day. people who leave their dogs in crates all day will have neurotic dogs and wonder why think of what is best for your pet.. not yourself there has got to be another answer for these poor caged dogs.. " I'm sorry but I have to disagree with U on this one, and I'm not trying to start any fusses here but just my own personal thoughts on this matter. Fencing off a room might be a kinder solution in somes eyes but I've done that fenced off my kitchen for my Yorkies, my kitchen chairs we're ate all to pieces, baseboards, pee in the floor. Fenced off my living room and same thing happened U should see my coffee table, not counting baseboards, chewed holes in my carpet when we had carpet in the living room. Ate my sewing machine cord up, ate a fan cord up all the way through while it was plugged in and running mind U while I was gone to the store. (Thank Tiffanie for that one). When Yorkies are puppies and no one is there to watch them they will chew/eat whatever they can get their teeth on. I've tried all the sprays out there and all the hot sauces on the market. I feel if U can't be there to watch them or put them in a room without no baseboard and nothing to chew on that they may get hurt on then they should be crated or in playpens for their safety. She didn't say she left her in her crate all day long, she said when she left & sometimes at night. There is nothing wrong with crating Yorkies if done the right way. I crate/playpen all 5 of mine when need be and they love it. There are just sometimes that people can't be there to watch them. U and them get a better nights sleep when they are crated. I do not have neurotic dogs, they don't pace or go around in circle at all, they are not scared or shaking when I let them out. Now if U do it wrong and never let them out then they could end up this way. Mine are not crated/playpen up all day long, just when need be. So I can't say crating is wrong if done the right way. |
Last time Duncan got mad, he wee'd on my hubbys side of the bed! LOL Hes such a lil naughty! (thats the only time hes ever done that so he musta been WEE"D off!) Elizabeth Duncan and Piper |
Banjo pouts!! :D Plain and simple!! Not all the time! He tries the poor little pitful me crap- then if that does not work - he give you that look- with fire in his eyes  he is MAD!:D I think the cat taught him that!:D She has always done the same thing- she can get MAD over somethings! But 90% of the time Banjo is sweet as he can be!! |

I think I have a Brat, she definitely likes it her way, even down to where she potties at! she is now refusing to potty onto the paper....but if she gets it by the paper I don't say a thing....just not on my furniture!! |

Many people crate their dogs upon the recommendation of experts in the field. I think it's a completely normal practice. And none of my dogs have issues or are "neurotic" because they are crated for their safety while I'm gone... |

I am leaving her with my daughter and grand....who do not have any dogs....please pray everyone all goes well all the way around!!! it will be from Friday night till Sunday night. |

If she is scared, it is cause she knows she is not going to see us for a long while not cause she is in trouble. But who knows what they think!!! Furgie is in my presents all day everyday!!! Even when I go to pick up GD at school...I think she is scared she wont be seeing us!! But when I get up in the mornings on the nights she had to sleep in her crate....I think she is mad...I really do....she wont kiss me, pulls away...it is miffed is what that is!! I think! |
Usually dogs like to be in a 'den' environment. It is safer than having the chewing wires or wood furniture that could lead to shock or choking hazards. Have you given your baby their favorite toy/blanket in the crate? There are special homeopathic air fresheners that are supposed to be calming for the pets. |
Momiji pout a lot. lol But she forgive me quickly as well. I leave a TV on for her all day as well and she got a nice big window to look out (except not much to look except next building...) |
Pouting yorkie I definitely think yorkies have attitudes. Freyja is always affectionate, but if I have to scold her, she won't sit down next to me. She will sit a little bit away and turn her head as if she is pouting. |
This is attitude for U! LOL! I've had Sage out in our Yorkie Room day and night and she is doing good tears up puppy pads some, well she is in a Split Heat Cycle and I've had to crate her due to her drippin' so much and she won't keep undies on. I got up this morning to a clean crate (She has a puppy pad in there) let them all potty, put them all back in their crates so I could go get my girls up and ready for school, came back in to feed and she had pooed all in her crate and stepped all in it and smeared it everywhere. Now mind U she already pooed out in the Yorkie Room @ 7 and now it's 8 and she's done it again. I had to clean it all up and her before even feeding anyone, so I bet our other Yorkies was upset at her too! LOL! So that is part of our Yorkie Breed, they will somehow pay U back when they are mad at U! Some worse then others. I love her tho and I just clean it up and go on, I find if I fuss she does it to make me mad, so if I act all cool and calm then she stops. I honestly think she likes to get me upset. So I turn it around on her and she's like well that didn't work! LOL. |
