| ![]() I am hoping that someone can explain this behavior to me. Louie likes to lick the cat's behind. It grosses me out b/c then he wants to come and give me kisses! ![]() ![]()

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() If dogs could talk, they probably would say that humans are olfactory disabled. Dogs can detect odors 1000 times better than humans. If there is chicken soup cooking on the stove, humans smell the soup, the combination of ingredients. Dog smell each individual part. So what is malodorous to humans can be glorious to dogs since they are able to pick out the certain odor and concentrate on that. Many dogs eat cat poop because of the undigested nutrients in it, they can smell the good part. So I believe it's possible to be a combination of submissive behavior, and he just plain likes it. You could always try the old pennies in a can trick. Say, "no" shake the can of pennies, repeat as needed.

| ![]() For the dog licking, I would think that would be mainly submissive behavior. Not sure about the cat tho. While I think it's most likely "normal" behavior for them, you can still teach good manners.... I mean manners that we humans consider good. ![]()

| ![]() We have 2 cats and 2 dogs and it usually looks like a couple choo-choo trains around here. The dogs' noses are firmly attached to the cats' butts ![]() ![]() ![]()
