But why do people dump animals in the country, tie things around a dogs mouth, leave tied up all alone, live in an empty house??? People have to know there are shelters now- but they leave them to stave- die - a long , lonely, painful death!! I noticed that our local HS , charges if you bring aniamals to there door??? There are poor families everwhere-$25- $50 does not buy a lot of groceries, but it does buy some! |
Spreading the word about backyard breeders and puppymills to as many as possible. I believe in rescuing and trying to give these babies a home and life they may have never had. But for me I know my limitations and what I can afford to take care of. If I could I would scoop them all up. Educating the people one comes in contact with is a big plus.:animal-pa |

I also Gather food and other supplies for the shelter and Donate every month to them. I report and Follow though if I see abuse. and I also Educate when ever I can.. |

That sounds like a real sweet commercial though, it made me feel better after reading about the poor dog you saw. |
Awe, that is so sad and infuriates me to no end!! How anyone can treat an animal in such a way is beyond me. I'm glad their are people in this world with loving hearts that go and adopt these forgotten and unloved animals and give them the life they so deserve. Basically three of ours are rescues, (the fourth is a gift from a friend) but I'll tell you what, the rescued ones, they are just so different, it's like THEY KNOW what you've done for them and they never forget it. They are so loyal ad loving and always look at us with those eyes that just say, "Thank you for loving me and for giving me another chance at a good life." No, we can't save them all, but we surely can make a difference in ones life. When our furbabies pass away, I'll never have another one unless it's a rescue, just the way I feel about it. So many out there need a second chance, need to know what it feels like to be really loved and cared for. |
I know this thread is about a week old, but I think it needs to be bumped. Its important. At the shelter I just started volunteering at, there is a dog there who was raped by a man. There are dogs that have been abandoned and abused. The abuse that dogs and cats endure everyday is so awful and I wish that there were laws protecting them more. |

I know that you will witness some horrible things as a volunteer, but just remember, there are so many happy endings for these guys! The most amazing thing to witness is when they realize that someone is kind and loving towards them ... something that most of them have never known! Good luck!  |
Our daughter adopted a rescue (yorkie) about 2 months ago. She was 11 months when she got her. She was crated for at least 10 hours every day with no food, water, blanket, toys, NOTHING!!! She is the sweetest dog. But she is very "behind" - on the same level as my own yorkie who is 5 1/2 months old. Her eyes had no life in them. I was very afraid that he spirit had been broken, but just in the last 2 weeks, we have a major break through. Her eyes came to life and I was never so glad to see that in all my life. So we are happy:-) |

We went on a puppy mill raid and found 350 dogs, all small breeds. One little dog had three legs but when the vet examined her he found that she had a fourth leg but it was glued to her body by poop and matted fur. Two other dogs were stuck together and couldn't get apart because they were also stuck together with poop and matting. Thank God we shut that place down but there are hundreds more. It really makes you look at people differently. |
