Sadie has a slight case of kennel cough frm this shot... She still has a cough once in a while... It got me mad that the shot made my baby sick!:mad: |
My vet recommended that I get the bordatella shot (nasal) if I plan to take Isabella outside, to dog parks, groomers,etc... I haven't had a problem with her so far and I always gave Tobey it as well. The breeder as no right to be mad at you and I would wonder why her puppies seem to have a problem with it... |
My Springer was given the nasal version. Shortly after this his epilepsy started. I'm not in anyway saying that the vaccine gave my dog epilepsy but I'm not comfortable giving it to any of dogs now. Most kennels and groomers (at lease in my case) understand why I won't give it. You should also know that the vaccine is like the flu shot. It only covers one strain and there are many different strains. I think it is a personable choice but if your breeder had a bad experience it may explain why she overreacted. |
It is my understanding the intranasal Bordatella is a LIVE vaccine. My pup promptly contracted Bordatella from this and it took over a month of meds for it to go away. The actual injection is a dead vaccine. My girls now get the injection form and have been fine with it. Though many would disagree, Bordatella is a treatable condition. Many prefer to not vaccinate against this and treat as needed. That being said, every kennel and doggie day care I know of insist that your pup be vacinnated for Bordatella before they will take them and it is strongly recommended if your pup goes to dog parks or is around other dogs for meet-ups or whatever. |

My Alastor has gotten the bortadella nasal vaccine because he goes everywhere with me and luckily had no reaction. I understand that the breeder is upset that you gave it to your pup, but ultimately, that decision is up to you and your vet unless that was in the puppy contract. I'm sure the breeder was trying to look out for the pup, but only you and your vet have the right to decide what vaccines to give YOUR puppy. Perhaps it just scared her when you let her know the pup got the shot and that the pup had an upset tummy, although the tummy problem (hookworms) and the vaccine were not actually related in the end. Please don't let the breeder pressure you into doing what She feels is right but stick with what you and your vet decide for your dog. |
Jake got the what they called the reverse sneeze?? It pretty much looks like he snorting like a pig, and it closely resembles asthma attacks. But they go away with nothing really? He sometimes does it on purpose for attention now. But we blame it on the shot. it started with it. |

Do you trust your vet? Honestly, something doesn't sound right. They shouldn't have surgery for a shunt without a positive diagnosis. What if it is MVD? What tests have been done so far? I'm sure you told me already but I can't remember now. So many people on YT are dealing with bile acid testing or liver shunt that it all kind of gets mixed up after awhile.:( |

I just waited to get my pups dewormed at 6 weeks because his office staff told me to bring them in at 6 weeks. He told me usually he worms pups at 2-4-6 weeks. I was dumbfounded. I didn't know what to say. I didn't look that up on here because I trusted what he said. I am still trying to figure out how I missed this. No harm done the pups haven't left the house, and I haven't had their mom outside much and she has been on heartguard right along. that night after getting the strongid. I found only one pup had gotten rid of one dead worm. No more seen in any other feces from the other pups. I watch them so closely. |
