Why Is Naming A Boy So Difficult?!
 
I still have about 3 months to figure this out, but I am excited to pick the perfect name. I have gone 'round and 'round trying to come up with the right one. There are a few that I like, but not sure if I love them. :( I am just hoping that his name will just jump out at me, but it hasn't so far. Like I said, there are some that I like, but I want to love it. Livi's name is short for the word, Living so maybe I could come up with something like that for him as well. There are some great suggestions, but I am still stumped. Did anyone else have this hard of a time??

Yes, I went crazy also thinking of boy names. I really loved Chester
but my granddaughter (3) took that choore from me and said she's naming
him Buddy! What could I say. Buddy it was:p
By any chance do you have a granddaughter?:D

I'll be getting my little boy soon too and I have a few names I really like. Tristan, Murfee and Tyler are at the top of my list so far.

Yes! After several months of comparing pedigrees I finally found my boy...he should be here next week. Just looking in his face I want to name him Murfee but I want to see his personality once he gets here too so maybe that will help.

TammyJM...maybe that's what you should do if you don't have your boy yet.

I just read through your other thread...you said you like the name Rebel...that's cute, I like that one too.

Maybe "Rebel Without a Cause" or something along those lines?

I had a hard time with Ryder...much harder than with all my girls. Naming my girls is always easy because I have several names I love...but I'm picky about boys names.

In the end I love the name I picked...Lil' Ruff Ryder Kale...I just sorta "knew" it was right when I heard it. ;)

No, but I have a son that is 3 and a daughter that is 4 and a half. My son just turned 3 last weekend so he is still so young and doesn't care one way or the other...or maybe that's the boy in him. LOL!! :p My daughter wants to name the puppy, "Animal Zoo". :) So you can see why I can't really ask for their name suggestions. LOL!!!!!!

Can't say that isn't unique though. That's funny....my 3 yr old neice wanted to name her baby sister....just that...babee sisser.

That is so sweet!! If I could actually come up with some way to use what my daughter picked out, I would....how in the world could I use "Animal Zoo", though? :p Ani and Zooey/Zoey would be too girly. What about Mali?? Then, what about a registered name using Animal Zoo? LOL!!!! Awww, what we do to please the little people in our lives. :)

I originally thought I was going to get a girl and had tons of names I liked Jordan, Ella, Dolce, Luna but...............we got a little boy:p and then I had to start all over..we were stumped so everytime we thought of a name we wrote it on the white board in our kitchen. If me or my husband didn't like one it got erased. Well after a really long list...we landed at Ozzy (Taylor's Wizard of Oz) for a few reasons; we wanted a big name for a small guy and my husband liked the idea of people names for dogs. His hair also stands out all wild like Ozzy Osbourne :D It's so hard to decide! Good luck

lol my Brooklyn's registered name came from her original breeder, and her grandchildren named her...bless her heart, her real name is Spiderbabe...hahaha

The first dog we ever had registered...was a golden retriever...my daughter was four. She wanted to name her Sally Lynn. Okay...so knowing nothing about their registered names...when I submit the paperwork...I put down Sally Lynn X (our last name)...receive the papers back. And there is an impressive list of names on her pedigree -
Winchester whatever of so and so farms...
So and so's Colt 45...of whatever...
So on and so on....

All these long and fancy names....and smack dab after those...
Sally Lynn. :rolleyes:

Do you guys like Sawyer?? Or Huckleberry....my husband wrinkles his nose anytime I bring this name up. LOL! I don't know....I like names that come across as "big" but a little goofy (if that makes sense). For example, our cat that is somewhat ditsy is named, Beauregard. I think it is hilarious that such a silly/funny boy has a more sophisticated name. I think, in the end, we will probably go with Hercules because my husband really likes it and I am stumped so maybe I will just let him decide. :confused:

Melvin?? It came to me today and I love it for a Yorkie! :) its such a little dorky name hehe Mel for short... :) Good Luck picking a name! I actually would have had a harder time picking girls name. I have 2 boys their names are Dexter and Fletcher... I also had a little boy named Stuart!

I had a hard time naming Tucker too. I went through about eight names before one stuck. If he would have been a girl, it would have been Piper hands down. I think it's hard to name a yorkie boy because they are so cute and little. It's easy to come up with a cute and little girl's name but not so much for a boy. Like if I had chosen a girl pitt bull it would have been hard to come up with a girl's name, ya know?

First advice...don't ask husbands. Mine wishes we'd named Reese...U Boat. :rolleyes: because Reese twirls himself into a U when he's excited. Now you know WHY we don't ask his name suggestions....3 years old have better names. Like Animal Zoo. :p

I like Sawyer. I also like the name Norman...don't ask why...it just strikes me as a funny name for a yorkie. Lennox...that's cute....no one would expect a yorkie to be named after a prize fighter.

Naming him after a famous boxer is a cute idea! Maybe I will see what other boxer names that I can come up with.

Right before we got our little boy I was at the movies with Dh and a trailer came on with the new Sylvester Stallone movie. We then looked at each other started laughing and said Rambo it is. I actually like it:D .

That is the best way to come up with a name...one that just pops out to both of you. That's how we named our Harley. We both made a list and had no idea what was on the other one's. We both wrote Harley down so that was that. :)

I don't know WHERE we came up with this, but one day Andrew and I said.. "Wouldn't it be cute if we got a Yorkie and his name was Franklin?"

...and Franklin it was. I also love "big people" names. I think if we got another one I'd have a HORRIBLE time trying to figure out a name. Fortunately, I have a year or so. I know if we get a girl next, we're going to name her Eleanor. (Get it!? :p)

Andrew is a really big politics buff so he likes the idea of naming all of our dogs after past presidents. I don't mind as long as he doesn't get to name my baby girls. :D Maybe you could do something like that?

Too cute...Franklin and Eleanor. ;) My husband did mention connecting our dog's names in some way. We have a Harley but I really didn't want to name a puppy Davidson. :p

I have a Springer named Tucker and my new Yorkie baby girl is going to be Piper.:)

I had the opposite problem. It was really hard for me to decide on a girl's name. I had lots of ideas for boys.

Re: Animal Zoo, what about Zoom or Zoomer (Bob the Builder's snowmobile). If I had gotten a boy it would've been McQueen, for Lightning McQueen. My son's favorite movie is Cars.

Do you have a favorite movie, band, food, etc? :)
