Grey head?
 
Sadie has this ash grey color coming in on her head!!!:confused: Any one have a yorkie with a grey head I can see pics of? It looks like a weird color to me... I thought their heads were supposed to be tan??????:confused: :confused: :confused:

not sure about "ash grey" but bentley has some really silvery grey coming in at the top of his head... :)

does that look like what sadie has?

I found this so I feel better....
 
A puppy of around four months, that has changed the color on its head from black to gray to a very pale sooty color, will as an adult enrich all the tan areas to a clear golden tan. The blue will follow the correct manner of transition from black to blue starting to do so around six months. The coat texture will be the correct silky type.

What about Tia, she is 8 weeks old; yet when I part her hair back I can see grey hairs lol. Will she grow to be tan in colour or grey?

look at my avatar. Ms. Sadie has the soot bluish gray on her head. She is 16 months old and it is not going to change. I love it tho.

here is a photo of my Jeter. Is this what you are talking about? The last picture was taken in January when you could first start to notice it. My husband teasingly calls him Stripe from the Gremlin's movie.

It's hard to tel from the pics but my older yorkie has blond almost white hair on his head... And he is a silver grey... I lke his coloring...

Sadie is 51/2 months old and her hair on her head looks like SOOT GREY... like she was rolling around in the fireplace!!! it isn't a nice white or blond look... it's this smoky soot color.

When chewy starting breaking his color I was upset because I was looking for tan. But once I saw what a light yorkie looked like I liked it.

I love her no matter what... I'm just hoping her coloring comes out nice cause soot grey from what I see is kind of weird looking. :confuse2:

Ginger has been like that since she was around 3 1/2 mos. she's now 7 mos. and still like that, and most of her bakc is also gray..their hair will change until they're between 2-3 years old..it's very normal for your pup to look like that

Most yorkies are grey on their body. is the grey on her back or on her head? Sadies is on her head... her back is still black, no color break there yet. her hair seems to grow rather slowly.

Diesel is similar, he looks like a balding old man because it looks like scalp under black hair!

My Brooklynn has a very, very grey head (the flash washed it out a lot)... and my little guy Peyton is coming in grey just like she did..

Your babies are cute! Are they silk coat? The eyes are so green!!! I am hoping Sadie will be a silk coat. Chewy is cotton...

Yep.. they're silky! I love it and its soo easy to manage.. I was afraid she wasn't going to be because she's still so dark but I lucked out! I've never seen a yorkie with a cottony coat, so I have nothing to compare them to.. I'd love to see the differences though..

Our Mariah too looks exactly like that. She looks exactly like a balding old man head. Her body is still completely black. It was a bit of a shock because we took her to the groomers. They completely trimmed her face/head and she looks awesome - but completely different. It was like we brought a tan/black dog in and came home with a balding, silver headed dog. LOL! It's taken some time to get used to. She especially looks kind of silly cuz they didn't really trim her body. They mainly did her private parts and face/head. It was her 1st trip to the groomers-they said she was "sassy"! LOL. I expected nothing less as she is all puppy and so active! So now she had this really skinny, tiny face and this big fluffy body. She looks so goofy! She has such an amazing personality. We have to get her body trimmed to match...lol! She is absolutely adoreable. I love her little face!

kash's head looks exactly like the third picture of jeter! he has greyish/silverish hair on the top of his head, too. the strands of his hair are two colors: grey on the bottom half (closer to the scalp) and black on the top half. at first this worried me because it made him look slightly bald, but after close examination, i realized his hair is just two colors right now. his dad is a blue/gold yorkie and his mom is a black/gold yorkie, so i can understand why he would have some silver coming in! i'm glad to see that other yorkies have this too! :)

Hot Rod is getting grayer by the day. If i part his hair down his back, he is turning gray as well.

Sophie started black and tan. She is 15 months old now and her body is silver and her head is a real light tan. But in between she had a silver head and black body. I think they are all adorable!

This is what she looked like right before the groomers.

Bentley is now 1 and 1/2 .he had a grey head till a couple months ago,now a nice golden tan.body turned silver rather quick (Ithought) except for the tip of his tail,which is still black!His groomer hasn't trimmed his "plumage" yet.it looks too cute to cut:D

Should you breed a silver yorkie? Is that considered "breed standard'? I really want to breed my Maggie, but was concerned since she's completely silver on her head.:confused:

Tia is now a year and 4 mos....her head is gray, with tan on her muzzle. Her coat is black, but is now turning blue. Her legs are still tan and her ears are a mix of tan and black. I'm also wondering if her head will become blonde?

I think if you are looking for THE STANDARD... it would not be the standard colors... but if you are breeding for pets then I think you could breed your baby. I neutered Chewy because he was a pet shop dog and I had no history of his blood line. I also didn't want to deal with the marking and he is a family member so no breeding was ever thought of any way.

Sadie is getting spayed TOMORROW:eek: I'm not thrilled... I can't wait till it's done. Poor baby!

Kiki's hair on her head used to be a grey silver color ... now it is almost a platinum blonde. She is 16 months now so I am not sure if this is the color it will stay.

I have 3 of my babies with the gray color, Its starting to turn on there body coat as well:) I like it, Molly is really blonde on top and gray on her body:)

Yorkies that are going to be the blond and silver are always gray like that at first. ;)

This is Raziel at 5 months old. (She's now 6 months old)
