Great poem, Megan. Well said. |

For every puppy-mill puppy that goes to a family such as the people on this forum, their are many more that go to homes where, when the newness of the puppy wears off and the furniture is chewed and the rugs are soiled and they get sick, they are neglected, mistreated or placed in another home. There are many more Yorkies who need to be rescued. They did not come from responsible breeders. THERE IS NO CONCERN ON THE PART OF THE STORE OWNER BACK TO THE BROKER AND THEN BACK TO THE MILLER as to where these babies are placed. I totally despise and hate (and those are very strong words. If I offend you, I apologize for the words but not the thoughts) those people. And, now with all of the words out about the millers there is no excuse for going into a pet shop or a flea market or roadside stand and buying a puppy.. It really is a catch 22....but at some point we have to say ENOUGH of the horrible offenses you are commiting against one of God's creatures. Again, JMHO. |
That was wonderful. You did a great job on it. |
thank you everyone. i really don't want this thread to become heated just wanted to share what i worked on and what i think about it all. lets try to keep it happy. :) |
I like the poem. It's very sad but has a truth to it. I feel so horrible for all those defenseless babies that have to suffer so much. |
OK i have one more. i thought this one is a little better than the first one. tell me what you guys think!! All that’s here is a room full of moans, Of all of us dogs, Who only want homes. We’re thirsty and hungry, No love comes our way, On top of dirt and wire, Is where I’m forced to lay. All I can do is hope, That I’ll one day be free, That there’s still a home, That’s in store for me. I don’t ask for that much, At least I don’t think I do, All I really want is to be with you. I want a yard to play in, And to feel the sunshine, But more than anything I want, A family that’s mine. I have a lot of love to give, But not much life that’s left to live. I’m almost out of time, That I know is true, But for the time I will be here, I want love I really do! I’m not living any kind of life a dog should have to live, All I’m really saying is something has to give. Won’t you come and rescue me, And save me from this place. I’ll love you with all my heart, I promise you I will. I will always love you, If you save me from this mill. By: Megan Shook 7/19/05 thanks for reading it! |
MEgan - you have REAL talent for writing - you honestly do - I hope you continue to write because your 2 poems were VERY touching and flowed really well....Keep it up !! |
Megan, you have real talent so please keep doing what you do so well. The best poems are written by passionate people who have a cause. You have that characteristic and more. You and Natalie can do so much good because you can say it so well. Keep up the good work and maybe some day we will look in a book of poetry that has been published as a fund raiser to shut down more mill and there will be your poems..Thank you. |
thanks everyone!! your all so nice! |
