Very Very Angry I took ava to her first grooming today, Very specifically I said ONLY TRIM HER EARS, BUTT AND PAWS because we are growing out her coat. Groom says ok no problem I pick her up only to discover she cut her top knot hair down so far I can't even clip it  and SHAVED the top of her nose I'm gonna say somewhat like a shnauzer. she looks terrible. I was so angry I asked why she cut her top hair and she said "it was in her eyes and you didn't tell me not to." I said "well I told you not to cut anything but the exact areas I said, and I told you we were growing it out" I was so angry I had to leave and called hubby, he is going to call and complain. Yeah no more trips to that groomer. |
I went through this just before Christmas..took Soleil in for her first groom..she looked like a teddy bear before I went it and came out with her looking like a fawn..and it was cold outside..but she had no hair left..It has grown back fairly fast..still not as long as it was before the groom but its much nicer now..do you have pics?? |
3 Attachment(s) she looks totally differant. And totally Not like ava. Please excuse the clothes she is standing by. I was re organizing my closet when I picked her up. She now has her self buried under a blanket, I think she hates her cut too. I added a picture of her face before and then the two now. :thumbdown |
This is why i groom my dogs myself! |
Dang I would be choked as well! |

Am I being super sensitive or does she look silly? I'm having a bad day anyways and this just got me so mad! |
2 Attachment(s) That happened to Buster this summer. I used a mobile groomer cuz I was feeling lazy, and asked for his usual, a Westie cut....instead we got the Fruit Bat cut!! He looked awful and he knew it too! Luckily her hair will grow out fast....keep looking for a groomer. A good groomer is like a good stylist, once you find a good one stay with them. Here is a pic for reference....Buster will kill me if he knows I posted this so keep it on the down low, LOL!! |
awe, i'm sorry :( I had this same thing happen to me...only the groomer actually shaved maggies entire muzzle. so i have started grooming her myself. Ava still looks cute...but I can totally understand how upset you are. especially shaving the bridge of her nose!!!!! |
I had horrible experince and waited months before i took him to a new one cause i was so scared! But ava still a cutie! |
aww poor guy. Isn't it funny how they know? Ava did NOT like that lady let me tell you what. She is not happy camper. I won't tell that you posted his picture! I wouldn't mind the hair on her head if she had shaped it or something, but the nose? she SHAVED the top of her nose!!! WHO DOES THAT? |
I groom Scooter and Maya myself also. I wouldn't be happy about what the groomer did..........but what can you do? Good thing about hair is it will grow back.:) |
This is why I groomed Meka myself. She'll be a year next week and I JUST found a groomer w/ the experience (25 yrs) that I was needing. You really do need to do the research on a good groomer. Just taking them to random places just doesnt cut it, cause you never know what your gonna get. Also, if you take your pup to the groomer for the first time, that groomer should be more than willing to make you feel comfortable and even allow you to sit with them on the first cut... None the less, your baby is a cutie regardless... and hair does grow back :) |

That happened to me the first time I brought Bitsy to a groomer. I told the groomer to not to cut the hair on her head or the hair on her nose but she did it anyways. It's been 4 months and the front hair is still too short to do a proper topknot :( I'm still fuming over that first groomer. And no matter what, your baby is still super cute! |
I have read so many stories like yours that I don't take Joey to the groomer except for nail trims. Your baby is a cutey, but I understand why you're upset. It's different, if you hadn't talked to her, but after feeling like you communicated your wishes and she ignored them completely you have a right to be angry. There is a breeder and groomer review forum on YT and I think you should name names. This person clearly shouldn't be trimming yorkies. Dog's really don't have a clue what they look like, but they can read you feeling's accurately. So do everything you can to make this little darling to feel beautiful again! |
i actually went to her on a reccomendation!!! I was so scared that this would happen. I just KNEW it would. But it does grow back. I just feel like maybe I shouldn't have had to pay the full amount since she screwed up. Dh is taking care of it. He is more angry than I am. I just wanted to get out of there. I was on the verge of being VERY nasty. Ill pass the cute comments on to Ava, she needs a self esteem boost at the moment lol. |
She is still a doll, But i dont blame you one bit for being pissed, Why dont groomers listen:mad: I wont even take molly anymore, last summer I had a bad experience to, I just found a new groomer and like her very much, so far she has cut karleigh and joey just how i asked, Hugs to you, She is still pretty |

Hey, there is nothing that can be done to her coat, -That she won't still be as "cute as a bug in a rug" as the old saying goes! She is just a doll! I'd be mad, too- esp. since you told them you were growing coat out! If Banjo ever goes to a grommer- I want to stay and watch- will they let you do that???? |
Well it was JUST long enough to keep a little bit of it out of her eyes in a clip or band, and she didn't SHAVE her head just trimmed it and the area around her eyes...uh its going to take 6 months probably to get that area back...don't even get me started on her nose I still love her and its just such a shock. She doesn't even look like the same dog. I just keep telling myself that she is OK and is beautiful and hair grows. |
Geeeeezzzzzzzzzz! My daughter and I have the same problem. The groomer is a dear friend, but Always shaves the Nose. It makes them look like they have a moustache:( I usually take them and my daughter will remind me "tell her not to shave the Nose"! Of course they are cute no matter what, but the teddy face look is sooooooo sweet and cuddly. Also, I just recently made a Big decision for me anyway to have her shave Bella's ears to see if the right one would stand. Top not gone! I hated that I had requested the ears shaved then. She had so much hair on the head at that time. Gone! So Frustrating. I want to learn to groom!! |
last time belle went to the groomer i told them not to cut her bangs cuz we were growing them out... they actually SHAVED her bangs like "eyebrows" and shaved the bridge of her nose... I WAS SOOOOOO UPSET! so now i'm going to learn how to do it myself... i'm never truly happy with what the groomers do... |
Want me to go slap her...I hate that nonsense..that is why I am learning to groom myself. I dont' like it when they cut the hair between the eyes..it takes long to grow back and tends to poke them in the eye as it grows in. I am also afraid of them cutting there in case they slip...not sure about anyone elses dog but Zoey is ornery. I can see an eye getting poked. |

always ask other yorkie owners for recommendations. Also this is why petsmart has you sign a paper stating what you asked for |
Awww I would be upset too, of course it goes without saying that she is cute no matter how her hair is cut but what an upset anyway. I have never even ventured bring my girls to a groomer, after reading so many stories about things like this on here i'm not taking the chance. If someone is going to mess it up it will be me. |
Girl I feel you I took both Sophie and Rambo to get groomed yesterday. I said specifically don't cut the top of their hair. Of course I get there and the top is cut:( . To make matters worse when I get home took off Sophie harness she ran upstairs next thing DH is yelling at me "WHAT HAPPENED TO SOPHIE SHE'S BLEEDING" I'm like what do you mean she's bleeding. As I reached top of stairs sure enough DH white shirt is full of blood marks all over. I start to freak. I thought maybe she had stepped on a piece of glass outside. After further inspection the groomer had cut one of her nails too short and it had started to bleed. Uggg just want to strangle them sometimes:mad: |
OH TRUST ME I feel your pain!! :( Every time I look at Tucker I almost cry...:( But she is still cute...:) |
Murfee has only been to the groomers once in 4 years...when he was about 6 months old. I am not a professional and I know I don't do a great job but I do a whole lot better than the "professional" I took him to. I think your baby still looks adorable!! |
Jambo had the same schnauzer looking cut before too! My mom had taken her to a groomer and she told them no hair cut, just wash and nails clipped. I went to pick him up and I was shocked to see the hair on his head cut. I wanted to grow his hair out so I cut top knot it so he wouldn't have the hair in his eyes. When I asked why she had done it when she was given simple instructions, she gave me this mumbo jumbo about how she was trying to even his hair out and she was not charging me for brushing his teeth which I did not ask for. The ugly cut is finally growing out but it still pisses me off when I see short hair falling into his eyes. |
I know your very very angry...but she looks so darling!! |
