The same thing happened to me. Picked my granpuppy up from my daughter's place and had to stop @convenient mart. I was only in the store for a min or two and took him in my arms. The clerk was very rude...."Maaam, dogs are Not Allowed!" Just ignored her and paid for my purchase. OK.....so they have rules....don't make me feel like a criminal. Don't mess with my Cole! He's my "gran furbaby". |

If the weather is nice (not too hot or cold), I will run into the store and leave one of my dogs in there if they are with me. I live in a very small town, very country, never had a "dognapping" here, and I dont even remember ever hearing of anyone getting a car broken into or stolen either. I could probably have all 5 dogs with me, car running and unlocked, and I MIGHT come back to a couple of old people sitting in my car petting my dogs ;) I would never take them down to the big city though, I dont really have a reason to. The more I read about cityfolk, the more I appreciate where I live. :) |
Well after my little experience at Pet Smart, I would not leave them in a car at all. People are crazy:) |
Personally i dont think theres any reason to leave a dog in the car if they cant come in the store they should have stayed home |

I don't take Madeleine with me if I will be going places she isn't allowed. Also, I don't travel alone, so that hasn't been an issue. I don't feel comfortable with the idea of leaving dogs in the car, but I wouldn't say that if someone did and something happened that they wouldn't deserve their dog back. |
I take Conner with me when he can go into the places I am going. If he cannot go inside, he stays home. I would be too nervous leaving him in the car. The whole time he would be out of my sight, I would be thinking he was getting into trouble in the car, or someone would be dognapping him. |
My Coco Loves to go on errands with me. She sits in her car seat in the front of the car and waits patiently while I go inside places she is not allowed. Of course, the car is always locked and I come back as soon as possible. We don't take her with us if it is too sunny or warm -- or visa versa, too cold. She is very upset if she can't go. Katelin |
Nope, we don't take ANY of our furkids ANYWHERE with us that they cannot go in at. I won't leave them in the car un-attended, to many things can happen and I just won't risk it. |

I do not take my little ones with me when I have to go somewhere they are not allowed. However, I do have one dog I feel perfectly comfortable leaving in the car. In fact, I feel safer when she is in it, as I know they can't steal my car, or rob me, etc. Also, I feel safer knowing she is at home to protect the little ones, when I am not there. She is a Rottie, and nobody could steal her. :) My other little one is a Chi who had a rough life before me, and if anybody ever tried to take her, they would be missing several fingers. But, it's better safe than sorry. So, she doesn't get left in the car either. Maybe if I lived in a smaller town, I would feel safer. Goodness knows, I have hubby about talked into it! |
I have and do bring my dogs with me about everywhere I go. Sometimes that means me having to leave them in the car. They are never in there to long. Nothing over an hour and they are alway warm and comfortable. In the summer I leave the windows cracked and in the winter I leave it running. I have an extra key that I lock the car and can leave it running. I live in a small town and I have never had a problem. Now in Anchorage I would not leave them for more then a minute or two unless I have too. Some towns you can trust and some you can't. You just have to know the feel of it. I am not going to leave my furbutts alone everytime I leave. They love riding in the car and I am not going to deprive them of that. If they get stolen then I feel sorry for the person that I find them with. I would rathher them have a good life then worrying about what could happen and just enjoy life to the fullest now. That is my thoughts, Sharon |
I never do. The other day we stopped at costco on the way to my bro's house and i had london with me. I waited in the car with her until they got back. I looked around to see if people look in other people's cars and sure enough ppl were looking in our car:rolleyes: It's never safe |
nope Parker either stays home or comes with me in his pet stroller! I don't trust ANYONE at anytime regardless to if I live in a small town or big city! |
