How to get a good picture of your furbaby 101 I took pics last night of my girls and I have had a lot of people ask me "how do you get them to pose for you" or "how do you get them to stay still"? Here is the link to the pics. http://yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120047 When I take pics of my girls I ALWAYS #1 find a place with good lighting #2 use a table or chair (something off the ground) When they are up higher it's easier to get their attention #3 I hold a piece of cheese with mt lips so they are looking at it (by holding it with my lips they are looking just under the lens which will help prevent green/red/orange eye. #4 if possiable have someone else stand very close to the table and hold them till you are ready to snap. #5 LOTS and LOTS of praise When I get my camera out my Lexi will run and jump on the sofa and start posing. (she is my easiest to get pics of) I do not give them cheese any other time than picture time. That way they associate the cheese with my camera and know what is expected. Hope this helps |
Wow! Thank you so much. That is very helpful and clever! |
we make weird noises to get the head tilt... lol...when we do it at meetups i have to wonder what the other ppl around us are thinking when they hear all these women making squeaky and strange noises, just to get a headtilt :D |
yes the head tilt!! but my babies will NEVER ever look at the cam for more than .00005 seconds.. hahahaha i'm going to have to try that cheese thing =D |
I have a question about this one: Quote:

LOL, shutter speed helps. Look in your camera manual and she if you can ajust your shutter speed on your camera. If so set it to 1/200. |

Great Pictures! 2 Attachment(s) Those were really good suggestions for getting good pix of our little guys. Your Yorkies are really pretty. Thanks for the information. Katelin |
Tricia, Belle is just like Lexi, she sees the camera and INSTANTLY poses, lol my mom had to take a pic of her standing up for the condo we moved to and Belle kept sitting and posing LOL |

that cheese thing is genius! |
pics 101 Thanks for the info - I'll try tonight for sure, whenever I get the camera out they either jump on me, therefore too close for anything or else they head straight for the other room..... |
Thanks so much for posting your tips! I actually went out a few weeks ago and bought a professional grade camera because the point-n-shoots couldn't come close to keeping up with Lucy. It has made a huge difference :) |
Great tips, thanks so much! |
Thanks for the tips. i also try squeaking one of their toys right above my head or right below my chin...that seems to work sometimes....it's the darn green eye thing I have to work on... They sometimes look like green eyed monster aliens ready to attack...lol |

In fact, Beau rolls over in submission when I get it out... |
Awesome tips and I did the treat thing but never thought to put between my lips to have them look down to avoid the dreaded red/green eye. I'll be trying that next time I take pics. |
Thank you so very much for the fantastic tips. Your photograps are wonderful! |
Great information...thanks! Ziggy and Beau Do Not like their picture taken. I have a Kodak easy share but would like to get another better camera. Can you recommend a good one for taking pics of my boys...not over $400 or $500? Also one that is not too hard to figure out how to operate it? :p |
Thanks for the input. I could really use it. |

We don't have to pay for this class do we??????? Those are great tips I will definitely try them with Topper especially the tip about the shutter speed. I can get him wehre I want him for a picture but by the time my digital actually snaps the picture he is gone. Tammy |

I recommend way before you get the dogs ready, set a lamp or a stuffed animal where you want your dogs to sit and get your camera ready with the settings so the dogs arent sitting there getting bored. Just like kids, you have to be fast, fast, fast with taking pics. they lose patience very quickly. |

We also give treats during picture time. When Chip hears the camera turn on he's ready to role! |
