What does it mean?? :confused: What does it mean when your yorkie kicks back their back paws... inside or outside? I have heard they do that after they go potty to spread their scent but he does it when he is just wandering around... Does any of your do this?? |

Tink does the same after she potties. But I would take Kalina's suggestion and have her knees checked! |

When my Paris #1 does this...it's a temper tantrum...usually occurring in front of all my friends at a Yorkie meet-up when she's decided she would rather be back at home on her Daddy's lap!!! |

This is funny. I think there must be many reasons our little ones do this! My Maltese does the back leg kick after she poops, but only uses her back legs to kick, doesn't put her whole body into it like AprilLove does. Road61, I think in time you will learn what your little guy is trying to say when he does it, if it isn't always after pottying. PS. My two senior girls do the kick-back after doing their poo, but my boys haven't picked it up yet.:confused: AprilLove, that was a darling video clip. I had to watch it several times. Did disturb my 4 furbabies, though. Disrupted my husband watching his favorite college team playing, KU. With Nappy being so possessive of his rawhide, I never would have thought that April would have ended up with it. She appeared to be so submissive, but that was all an act.:D |
This behavior is a carry over from their wolf ancestors. In the wild they cover their feces and the feces of their pups so preditors don't pick up the scent. Today's dogs don't even know why they do it, it's just instinct. :D |

My Lillie does it everytime she goes potty outside. She also does it when she wants something. Lately I have been cling it the Chicken Dance and she gas learned it and now does it on command. |

I had a dog, Spitz many years ago that does it. He does it after poo-ing. I asked my aunty who had dogs for many years and she said they are trying to dig the sand/earth to bury the poop. Not sure if its true or not. |
My Bailey does it all the time! Just like AprilLove If her sister or Bella has something she wants, she'll bark at the air and kick her legs! And if she's getting hyped up about something, like when we take the iguana to the bathtub while her cage is being cleaned, Bailey will kick her back legs and bark because she wants after her... I think its the cutest thing ever! |

Shelby does it after she goes potty..... and she is usually saying "I feel good... I REALLY feel good." When Seymour does it after he goes potty .... HE is usually saying "Look at me Big Sissy, I went potty.... Look at MEEEEeeeeeee!" |
Samson does the same thing when he wants something. Before he could jump down from the sofa he would do this to let us know that he wanted down. When he's at the top of the steps (he's still scared to come down stairs) and wants to come down he does that. It's so cute! We started to call him Bulldog LOL |

Peanut does it when he is playing or after I give him his meds. He has never do it after pooping??? |
