What does it mean??
 
:confused: What does it mean when your yorkie kicks back their back paws... inside or outside? I have heard they do that after they go potty to spread their scent but he does it when he is just wandering around... Does any of your do this??

could be a sign of luxating patellas. if they are walking around and suddenly kick one leg straight back they are trying to get the patella back in place. you can have your vet check for this.

Hallie does this after she goes potty :) She is pad trained so when I hear her kick her little feet I know she has gone.

Simon will do it outside too after he potties :)

Lacy does this after she poops sometimes. I really think it's a dominant behavior

Tink does the same after she potties. But I would take Kalina's suggestion and have her knees checked!

I always thought when they did it after potty they were just wiping their feet

all 3 of our girls will do it after they go potty and want you to KNOW it,,, they are proud of themselves for going potty on the potty!! like saying LOOKIE What I did!!! now tell me how GOOD I am! SEE!!!! :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork

When my Paris #1 does this...it's a temper tantrum...usually occurring in front of all my friends at a Yorkie meet-up when she's decided she would rather be back at home on her Daddy's lap!!!

Moose will do if after he goes potty out side of his territory! On walks around the neighborhood, at the beach etc. Sometimes he does it even if he just smells something. :cool:

This is funny. I think there must be many reasons our little ones do this! My Maltese does the back leg kick after she poops, but only uses her back legs to kick, doesn't put her whole body into it like AprilLove does.

Road61, I think in time you will learn what your little guy is trying to say when he does it, if it isn't always after pottying.

My two senior girls do the kick-back after doing their poo, but my boys haven't picked it up yet.:confused:

AprilLove, that was a darling video clip. I had to watch it several times. Did disturb my 4 furbabies, though. Disrupted my husband watching his favorite college team playing, KU. With Nappy being so possessive of his rawhide, I never would have thought that April would have ended up with it. She appeared to be so submissive, but that was all an act.:D
