Being new to YT and a new Yorkie mom, I read and take in a lot of the advice on here. If there is something that is not right, I would want to make sure that I don't follow it. I think that I can say for all the less experienced yorkie parents, please speak up if you see something that is not right. I wouldn't want to find out after something bag happens that I chose the wrong path to take in the care of my little one. You can pm that person but then please make sure that the advice given is corrected so that someone doesn't follow that advice. Thank you for being concerned about what is being posted...it means alot that someone is paying attention and I appreciate all the help I can get for keeping my furbaby safe. |
If you truly see bad, worrisome, or dangerous advice - I really wish you would speak up. Everyone can learn from it, whether you (or they) are right or wrong. Now your post (this one) makes me worry even more about what you didn't speak up about (NO offense, please don't take any) - so I'm not quite sure what the intent of this post was...bc it kind of gets me riled up (in a worried way, about furbabies). Maybe what you could do if you see something, but don't want to speak up - is to PM a member who you do trust and see if they might be able to lend some better advice in a touchy situation. Would that help sometimes? :) |
I know that we can't always agree on every subject but I appreciate seeing both sides of an issue. On some issues there is no right or no wrong but just personal opinions. Even though I have been raising Yorkies for 12 years there is still much to be learned and I have changed my view points on several things since being on YT. |
if you see a quote that is wrong or dangerous......post it here.....there is nothing that says you have to say who said it......just type it in....then tell the true answer to the question or correct information......we all learn from our mistakes....i hope that who ever it is that you are talking about ....they are not trying to intentionally hurt someone.......please let us know.....some of us (me for one) this is our first Yorkie and we may be taking the wrong advice.....hugs and kisses to all....by the way (vickie) great to hear that little man is castless now....good luck and God Bless all |
I haven't been checking in to this thread and I have just received a pm on this. I didn't mean to keep anyone guessing. I have already put a comment on the other threads after reading the first few response in this thread. No....not all of you girls. Most of us here, 99% of us wants the best for our yorkies and will come to YT for advice. The 1% is where people don't come here for that. I am not sure they come here to get attention even if its negative attention or they are seriously not loving their dog very well. I really don't think I should mention a name but I will tell you what is it about. It was a member who was talking about how scared her yorkie is and so scared that she sits on the pee pad and there were a lot more to that :( I am not sure if I should tell the whole story here its very long but I think a lot of you will know what I am talking about. Do a search on other threads that she has posted as her advice for other members as well and you'd know what I mean. I do voice out to reply to her reply but I hope she is just saying it and not doing it to her own yorkie :( Honestly, I cannot take it when I hear/know/see someone not trying their pets or an animal right. It breaks my heart and I have been thinking of the little one ever since I read the thread.:( I don't know why but I can't get it out of my mind. I took a while to write this as the first one got accidentally deleted. I apologize if I created so much anxiety in other members because it wasn't meant to be. |
Maybe you should direct the member who is wrong by sending them a PM with the correct information? |

it appears that she never did reply to any of the recommendations some of our many knowledgeable members offered her. I do not wish to get banned either so I am not going to mention her user name. I did not respond in her thread because I just bit my tongue and kept still. I cannot imagine being so fastidious that I would bathe my pup every time her feet touched a piddle pad. |
well if that is "her" problem then she needs to get rid of her dog.....there is no way in "hello" that you can keep a dog or your house spotless with a dog or cat for that matter....if you are cleanliness OCD then leave the little darlings alone.....now i said my piece.......deep breath......god forgive me but that just erks me to the uttermost......somepeople........... |
:yeahthat: both the above posts |

So if giving out wrong advice is your concern I'd have to agree that there are lots of different opinions here and agree that one answer isn't always the "right" answer for every situation. "Wrong advice" regarding medical treatment or something like that should be just that - ADVICE. It is common sense (even to a 'new' member) that the best medical answer will come from your vet, but offering support and suggestions are very comforting here :) |
