what do you guys do when you go on vacation? hello everyone. We are going on a vacation this year. and I am so sad. we can not take ben with us. we had a choc. lab in the past and we left him at the petsmart hotel. and he loved it. I do not feel comfortable leaving ben with them. I was wondering what others have done? I know a lot of people will say take him with you, but where we are going it is not an option. we would if we could take him. I have a couple of family members that might work, but they have other dogs and one is a mean chihuahua. well thanks in advance. |
I have a big dog that I take to a pet resort and he loves it but like you I do not fell comfortable taking Lily there, so when we go on vacation I am thinking about getting a pet sitter. That way she can be at home where she is more comfortable. |
We ether board ours at the groomers or our brother in law or neighbor watches them for us |
We get a petsitter when we go on vacation. That way the doggies can be comfortable in their normal environment and not stress out as much. I think they actually like the petsitter more because she takes them on more walks and gives them (too much) more treats and food! |
I thought about this before getting Dim Sum. Luckily I have my mother and 3 other friends that also have yorkies and are willing to babysit. I have babysat as well before I got Dim Sum. |
last time i went on vacation my mom flew to town to stay at my place with dexter. im going away for easter for 4 days also and a friend of mine that i trust is going to stay at my place with him. i wish i could bring him at easter but its an air canada flight and they dont allow pets in the cabin...no way i would put him down below away from me! |
I am in the same predicament. I am thinking about going to Orlando for 5 days and I'm not sure about what to do with my two girls. I do not know anyone that I would feel comfortable leaving them with. I guess I will have to look into different boarding places. I wish I had friends that had Yorkies too. I guess I'll never go anywhere again unless they can come with me. :( |
When I had just one, I used to leave her with my mother. But now that I have 3, my mother comes to my house and watches them. This year will be different :-( cuz mom won't be able to help out since she's going on vacation the same time as we are (how did that happen!?!) So we're going to hire my girlfriend's teenage son to come over daily to check on them and make sure they have food and water. I hope I don't drive them crazy cuz I know I'll be calling all the time, wondering how my babies are. :D |
We leave Tilly at the vets boarding facility. We calll it her pet hotel. :) |
They go except for Silas. son and daughter in law take care of him. If they could not go then Son and daughter in law MOVE IN!!!:D |
We take Koda like, anywhere we can! But if you have to leave your baby home, get a pet sitter that you know & trust. Maybe a family member can come over your house once or twice a day to feed, walk, and play with your pup. |
We're pretty lucky, our first option is our 23 year old son who is currently still living at home and even when he moves out I'm pretty sure we'll be able to get him to come stay at the house when we leave town. Our second option if he's not available is our good friends, I can take them to their house. They have 2 Shih Tzu's and we also will watch their "kids" for them. |
We're traveling a lot this summer and theres one person I would trust with my kiddos but like me, she has 4 as well and I wouldn't even think to ask her if she would watch them (8?! lol).. I wouldn't mind watching hers, but you know.. So.. more than likely they'll come with us and we'll just wing it as we go.. |
Maybe you could look here on YT, check regional, and then check to see if another YT owner lives near you...maybe that would be a possibility. |
My mom watches them. :) |
