what do you guys do when you go on vacation? hello everyone. We are going on a vacation this year. and I am so sad. we can not take ben with us. we had a choc. lab in the past and we left him at the petsmart hotel. and he loved it. I do not feel comfortable leaving ben with them. I was wondering what others have done? I know a lot of people will say take him with you, but where we are going it is not an option. we would if we could take him. I have a couple of family members that might work, but they have other dogs and one is a mean chihuahua. well thanks in advance. |
I have a big dog that I take to a pet resort and he loves it but like you I do not fell comfortable taking Lily there, so when we go on vacation I am thinking about getting a pet sitter. That way she can be at home where she is more comfortable. |
We ether board ours at the groomers or our brother in law or neighbor watches them for us |
We get a petsitter when we go on vacation. That way the doggies can be comfortable in their normal environment and not stress out as much. I think they actually like the petsitter more because she takes them on more walks and gives them (too much) more treats and food! |
I thought about this before getting Dim Sum. Luckily I have my mother and 3 other friends that also have yorkies and are willing to babysit. I have babysat as well before I got Dim Sum. |
last time i went on vacation my mom flew to town to stay at my place with dexter. im going away for easter for 4 days also and a friend of mine that i trust is going to stay at my place with him. i wish i could bring him at easter but its an air canada flight and they dont allow pets in the cabin...no way i would put him down below away from me! |
I am in the same predicament. I am thinking about going to Orlando for 5 days and I'm not sure about what to do with my two girls. I do not know anyone that I would feel comfortable leaving them with. I guess I will have to look into different boarding places. I wish I had friends that had Yorkies too. I guess I'll never go anywhere again unless they can come with me. :( |
When I had just one, I used to leave her with my mother. But now that I have 3, my mother comes to my house and watches them. This year will be different :-( cuz mom won't be able to help out since she's going on vacation the same time as we are (how did that happen!?!) So we're going to hire my girlfriend's teenage son to come over daily to check on them and make sure they have food and water. I hope I don't drive them crazy cuz I know I'll be calling all the time, wondering how my babies are. :D |
We leave Tilly at the vets boarding facility. We calll it her pet hotel. :) |
They go except for Silas. son and daughter in law take care of him. If they could not go then Son and daughter in law MOVE IN!!!:D |
We take Koda like, anywhere we can! But if you have to leave your baby home, get a pet sitter that you know & trust. Maybe a family member can come over your house once or twice a day to feed, walk, and play with your pup. |
We're pretty lucky, our first option is our 23 year old son who is currently still living at home and even when he moves out I'm pretty sure we'll be able to get him to come stay at the house when we leave town. Our second option if he's not available is our good friends, I can take them to their house. They have 2 Shih Tzu's and we also will watch their "kids" for them. |
We're traveling a lot this summer and theres one person I would trust with my kiddos but like me, she has 4 as well and I wouldn't even think to ask her if she would watch them (8?! lol).. I wouldn't mind watching hers, but you know.. So.. more than likely they'll come with us and we'll just wing it as we go.. |
Maybe you could look here on YT, check regional, and then check to see if another YT owner lives near you...maybe that would be a possibility. |
My mom watches them. :) |
I couldn't stand to be away from him. |
We are going to CA this May to a dog show and will take our two show dogs but are girls will have to stay behind so we have made reservations at the Petsmart PetHotel...we have taken a tour and asked tons of questions and feel comfortable with the enviornment and the people there. We are hoping that the girls do okay it will be one of the first time they will be without us and the first time for them to board. We made reservations for them to stay together the whole time so they will be more comfortable. |
So far, I've only had to leave Slade once and I was still in town, so I could check on him, but I was friends in town and I didn't feel like he'd get the attention he would needthat weekend so he stayed my best friend and her boxer. I trust her 100%. With my other dog, I've only have had to leave her once in all 4 yrs I've had her and she stayed with my mom. If it were me,and you don't trust your dog to stay at family or friends house I would see if I could get someone I trusted to come by my house a couple times a day to feed play with your dog. My bf does this with her dogs. She knows I can't keep at my house when shes gone, but since she keeps Slade for me when needed , I will go by her house at least 3 times a day and tke her dog for a walk, feed him, and just hang around her apt for 30mins or an hour. |
I wish to visit Veega Land with my family in this summer holidays. Veega Land is one of the famous amusement park in the world. It was situated in Pallikkara in Kerala state of India country. |
Any time we have to leave Remi we board him with our breeder. We are so fortunate to have this service available. Hope it works for you. |
thank you all so much. I might have a solution, my friend has a small dog and he said he wouldn't mind watching ben for us. the dogs would be together all day until he comes home from work. and if that does not work I will ask our breeder if he does not mind watching ben for us. or maybe as someone suggested here maybe someone from orange county could help me out, and in the future I could help them out as well. again thank you all for the replys. |
