Hi, I'm new!
 
Hi everyone!

I just wanted to introduce myself and my yorkie puppy Madison:aimeeyork . She's now 8 months old and I've had her since she was 12 wks old. She's an absolute delight (and full of fun quirks)! I've been reading this forum for quite a while, but never posted...until now!

I feed Madison a combination of wet and dry food. But she has this habit of taking a bite out of her bowl and walking 3 ft away to chew it, then returns to get one more and repeats. Of course she eats the wet food first, but when it comes to the dry food she barks at the bowl later on when shes still hungry and waits for me to feed the kibble to her one piece at a time...

Do other yorkies have weird eating habits? I grew up with Airdales and Bichon Frise's who gobble up whatever is in their bowl as fast as possible, so this is all new to me.

Welcome, Lexi! My Dallas does the same thing. He grabs a kibble and runs under the dining room table to eat it. These yorkies are such characters! Look forward to hearing more from you!! :)

My girl doesn't have the bad eating habit.. but your pup might be teething.. and it might be good to have a kong or some other toys that help him her with his teeth.

I also would love to see the pic of your girl too :)

She has all of her grown up teeth already. And definitely has plenty of toys (hard and soft) that she plays with non-stop. Sometimes I think it's a game she plays or something left over from when she was little with other puppies trying to save her own food. At one point she was taking pieces of wet food and burying them in the corner of her doggie bed or the couch...which was gross and I quickly discouraged.

But on a lighter note... here are some recent pictures of Madison (and one of her and her bichon buddies at home on christmas)!

Welcome to you and Madison to YT.. My girls do that all the time..My oldest, Diva, sometimes won't eat her dry kibble unless I hand feed it to her..:rolleyes: All of them do the burying thing....I think it's just their nature and I don't bother them too much with it..it's usually a dry treat so I let them do their thing...:)

Oh, btw- Madison and her friends are cuties!

Welcome to YT. Murfee doesn't do that with his food but my cocker did that his whole life.

Welcome!! Tyson has a wierd habit of eating his kibble one by one...and each one he grabs, he runs across the room and lays on his blanket to chew. LOL!!

Both Emma & Tia do this too they grab on kibble and run away from the bowl and chew it up then go back for another they don't eat maybe 5-6 kibble @ a time they just snack like this all day long :p

:welcome4: Welcome to YT! My 3 year old girl Maya used-to do the same thing.....I think she has outgrown that because she doesn't do it anymore. She did not make me feed one piece at a time to her though. Yorkies are just like people with their own personalities and behaviors......I love them all!!!

Hello! :) Madison is simply gorgeous in her little outfits!
I love to dress up my baby girl too :0) And my sweety is full of energy also - runnig around the house, chasing our three cats and me! :D

Hi and welcome, Madison is adorable. Kassie picks up her food bowl and carries it into the livingroom to dump on our area rug before eating it. They have the strangest little quirks.

Remi is my first Yorkie. Madison will do things that are unusual so that you will always be kept guessing as to what will come next.

Remi used to wait until I put a piece of his meat or chicken outside of his plate before he would eat anything. I have no idea why but I am sure he thought it was lots of fun!

I have a Bichon that always takes a mouthful of food into the living room to eat it one kibble at a time.

Welcome:) Must be a Yorkie thing:laugh: Luna has to "kill" the piece of kibble about three times before she'll eat it:laugh: It's so cute, but it takes her forever to eat! Maybe that's how she stays so skinny:D Izzy just eats:rolleyes:, she's a little overweight.

I loved your pictures of Madison and I have to say that I have a couple of babies that do the same thing. One of them actually throws the kibble up in the air a couple of times before dragging it off to eat on his own special blanket. It is the funniest thing to see.

Yes! Madison will do the same thing! I think they definitely just like to make a game out of eating :rolleyes:

All 4 of my yorkies so this exact same thing with their food! You would think they would get tired of walking back and forth lol
