Morkies?! I'm interested in getting a Maltese/yorkie that a woman in my area is selling.....Sassy needs a playmate! :D Does anyone have a Morkie? Is it a good, Friendly mix? Also, Does anyone know how big these pups will eventually get? i'm under the impression that Maltese dogs grow to be somewhat Larger than yorkies. Please Let me know! :) |
they get about 7 pounds. they are sooooo cute and playful. almost bought one but got my lil bentley instead |
I have a friend who has a Morkie, she is sweet if somewhat stand-offish to new people, but I have seen Yorkies that way too...The size would depend on the parents too. My friend's Mork is around 5 pounds, but I have seen them as big as 10-12 pounds.... The prices for Morkies around here are the same or more than Yorkies....out of my own curiosity, why not just get another Yorkie? |
Their size are determine as if they were full blooded toy dogs. It depends on the parents size, the grandparents, the great grandparents, etc. Does she breed them or is she re-homing hers? hey, I see you're in austin! If you got some time on Wednesday morning, get at me and we could possibly meet at the dog boutique where I work! :) |
Maltese should be the exact same size as a Yorkie. The Maltese standard calls for them to be under 7lbs as well. |
2 Attachment(s) I have a maltese/yorkie. Bitsy is the best and I couldn't be happier. She rarely barks, loves all people and other animals and is very outgoing and friendly. She was pee pad trained in about 2 weeks. She is 8 months now and 8 lbs, but she's bigger than I expected. I met both her parents, and her mother is 4 lbs and her father is 4.5 lbs, so go figure! The reason I decided on a mix is because I love the quieter nature of the maltese, but didn't want a white dog. Well, Bitsy had the colouring of a Yorkie when I first got her, but now she's turning more white! I'm glad I got her, but my next dog will definitely be a full Yorkie. Here are some pics of her when she was 4.5 months old. |

My sister used to breed morkies, there are 8 in my family, and they're all pretty small..I think she used to sell hers for around $450. They are very sweet little dogs..Maltese a lot of times, are smaller than yorkies..My sister has 3 morkies, a yorkie and a maltese, the maltese is the tiniest |

4 Attachment(s) my dear friend has a morkie...she is about 9 months old and probably 8-10 lbs now. She is super sweet...pretty hyper but I blame that on my friend LOL she plays really well with maggie...but she tries to hump her non stop LOL honestly, she is a beautiful dog, very sweet, and very smart. definitely larger than maggie (maggie is 5 1/2 lbs), and she has several characteristics of both maltese and yorkie. Just be careful who you buy from. That's really the key here. some "morkie" breeders are out for a quick buck...cross breeding dogs and charging just as much..or more...for them as they do a lot of full breeds. Just check the living conditions, and I would not pay much for one. It just seems ridiculous to me that people are mixing these breeds, giving them a cute name, and selling them for big bucks. Here are some pics of Sedona. I'm convinced she has the longest tongue in dog history LOL She came from someone who used to be a member here...and another member here actually has her sister :) good luck...and let us know what you come up with :D |

I have to say she has the cutest girly look! It seems with this mix you never know how they will turn out looking as an adult. |
I think Morkies are adorable :) |
I have a Morkie! 4 Attachment(s) I have a little Morkie named Beau. He is currently 6 1/2 months old and is 3 pounds. I think he was the tiniest in the litter. He doesn't bark, potty trained in about 2 months and is very fiesty!! He loves to play and romp and is very, very curious and therefore always getting into things! He did come from purebred parents (he was an surprise) and you can see both of his parents in him. I wouldn't trade him for anything!! |

It's kind of a crap shoot in regards to how the dog will turn out--you don't know what set of genes they are going to inherit. Good luck on your new furbaby! |

OMGosh..he is such a cute little guy! Im so in love with his little face! |
Beau is adorable. Size of Morkies is going to depend on the parents and grandparents. A wrestling parent we know has a silver Morkie that was given to her and she is on the larger size 12 pounds.I do not know what the parents size was. |

4 Attachment(s) Beau looks so much like my Jambo. Jambo is 6 months old at 6lbs (not the runt of the litter). His mom is a Maltese and dad a Yorkie. I think Morkies have the best qualities of both breeds. He was black and gold as a tiny pup (looked more like a Yorkie) but now he is getting whiter. I was able to potty train him in 2 weeks but he is pretty stubborn and is very playful. He has a lot of energy and is very active. He has the cutest walk and hops around like a little bunny. He has the cutest face like Beau and I get constantly stopped by people asking about him. He has gotten cuter as he has gotten older. I am looking to get him a sister so I am keeping my eyes peeled for possibly a Yorkie girl or another Morkie. Here are some pics of him. The first three are before he got groomed (shaved a lot of hair off) and neutered. I am trying to grow his hair so I can top knot it so it won't be in his eyes. He hates having a top knot! |

If he has a twin I want him! All the Morkies on this thread are beautiful, but he is striking! |
1 Attachment(s) Cecilia is a 1st generation Morkie.... she's here on the left in the picture below. She started out black / tan like a Yorkie baby, but after her first hair cut went solid white and now is carrying a gorgeous blue down her body. Her ears are floppy. She's as precious as can be... her coat is a fabulous silk wave and she's never had even the tiniest bit of matting since her first haircut (she came to us a little matted mess as a little pup) - - she's a little wall flower though as she doesn't care much for the goings on in the house and doesn't really play with any of the other furkids... she seems to be a "people pup". She was very easy to train in most every way, but has a blood curdling little bark that we've yet to tame... haha... She's 8 months old and 3.5 lbs. |
2 Attachment(s) Piper is our Morkie. The breeder said she would only be around 5 lbs. She is around 12 now. She has the best personality of our 3 kids. Very loving. |

The problem is, he's so cute that I give him his way to often! The other Morkies are so cute too! I love seeing pictures of them. It's fun to see how their hair color changes and what the end result will be. I've noticed in the last couple of weeks that Beau is starting to grow some gold hair on his back? I guess we'll see what we end up with! Thanks for the sweet compliments for my little man! :) |
2 Attachment(s) Here are some pictures of Piper |
My Tucker is a morkie. He's almost 6 months old and weighs 4 lbs. His parents were 3 and 4 pounds. He looks mostly Yorkie with his coloring and ears that stand up. The shape of his nose is more Maltese than Yorkie. He's a very good dog. Playful, but not too hyper or yappy. I was hoping with a mix I'd get the best of both breeds. |
what cute pictures of everyone's Morkies!!!! |

My neighbors have a Morkie! He's the cutest, sweetest, happiest, most playful little dog! I love him to pieces and threaten to steal him from her on a regular basis! He has an older black lab sister and they play and get along great! I so enjoy watching him run like a crazy man around their back yard. I laugh just looking at him! He just got a hair cut and looks very handsome! He's a little lighter than a yorkie but about the same size. |
