Mine are on nutro natural, have been for quite a few months with no problems..thanks for posting though |
Thank you very much for posting this, although my dogs are fed home prepared meals. I thought most of the food recalls and scares were over and that the dog food companies were trying to improve. This just proves that it's never going to be over, I guess. |
my cat is on nutro thank for posting this im gonna switch her |
Mine area on Nutro Natural Choice Small Bites Lite - thanks for posting the link. They've been fine so far but will watch them even more closely. |
Thanks so much for the info! Just when you think that the scare has settled down and the bad guys are having to pay, you read stuff like this that it's still going on and not being reported. Yikes!! |
I have been feeding Nutro Ultra small bites for awhile now. I switched from RC because of the corn in it. I guess I will start watching the dog food recall sites again! ....... What the heck???...... is there no one that governs what they put in pet foods?? Pathetic. I am about to go from "holistic" to ballistic!! TY for posting... good thread.  |
How sad:( I don't think any dog food is safe. |
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/pets/nutro.html (Link quote from linda44) What is interesting is that some of the dogs who got sick/died had been on Nurtro for quite awhile, and others for a couple of weeks. IMO that would mean that something has gone a-foul in the last 4/5 months. It is beyond me why a company wouldn't want to keep their good name and clean up their product. What makes it worse is that Nutro has been considered a fairly good pet food. On the grade-scale is it given an 87 which is a grade B. Just think how many pet owners consider that to be a good food, and how many pets have the potential to become ill!!!! Hope Nutro gets their act together soon. |
wow, i used to feed nutro max before switching to wellness about 2 months ago. all is well, thank God! |
What's really strange, is I used to give our old golden retriever hamburger meat(no salt/pepper), and she would get sick on that just about everytime..even ran water over it to get all the grease off..so, some people food doesn't always set well with them either... |
Five years ago when I first got Tia ,I put her on Nutro Max and within a day she started to vomit. The longer she was on the food the more frequent the vomiting became.I asked the vet if it could be the brand of dog food, he said no, I was just feeding her to much junk.Anyways after about a week and a half I switched her to California Natural and the vomiting stopped...Hmmm!Well needless to say I switched vets after that. Many, many dogs have gotten very sick on this food...I would not feed it at all. |
The breeder I got my Izzie from was feeding Nutro Natural Lamb and Rice.. Izzie is on it, but I was going to change it anyway, but to what?? |
Oh My goodness. I have had serious vomitting problems with Teddy. You will see this if you read my other postings. He had been on Nutro Lamb & rice for 16 months and Chicken & Rice for a month. He had been fine on it, then 5 weeks ago began being sick daily. HUNDREDS of POUNDS of tests at the vet all proved normal. I thought it was the Nutro (although I hadn't seen this then) So he is now off it. I live in the UK so don't get all the foods you can in the USA. Now I am convinced it was the NUTRO. He has had general anatheics. X-Rays, Blood tests, Barium Swallow.... Drugs to stop vomitting, so if it is the NUTRO It will of all been pointless for the poor baby to go through. What dog likes staying in the vets having all these tests ? I will be contacting Nutro. It is odd that for 17 months he was fine on it. Anyone else had the same thing. Months with it being OK and then not ? He is only 18 months old now ........ THANK GOD FOR YT WE ALL GET SO MUCH INFORMATION AND ADVICE. :aimeeyork :animal36 |
