HI! My 1st post and a question.... 2 Attachment(s) HI all! I'm kinda new, I've been reading posts and looking at pics for the last couple of weeks, this seems like a great site! I will try to post pics of my little ones soon... I have a question, I have heard of a blonde Yorkie, but what do they look like? A lady is offering a "blonde" to my mom. I will try to attach the pics she sent....We had a question of whether this was a full Yorkie or a X, but the lady is very adamant that he is a pure, 100% Yorkie. He is 9 months old but she says that it takes the blonde Yorkies longer to get their full hair...what do you think? And thanks for any help! |
Welcome to YT.........there are a lot of people here that have them. They are very pretty. Im sure you will get someone to post a picture of their Blondie!:aimeeyork |
Looks all yorkie to me ! He is pretty ! Welcome to YT :D |
Welcome to YT! Yes, there is a such thing as a "blonde" Yorkie. There is a member here (Julz) that has a very pretty blonde girl named Mercedes. I have to say I would be very cautious though of anyone with any off-colored Yorkie and would question if it really does have something else in the background, just to err on the side of caution. Did this lady breed this dog herself? Does she have the parents? Does she have other breed dogs in the home? (just for starters) And make sure you are not getting charged an outrageous price for a "rare" color Yorkies...that is not the case as this is a color flaw according to the set standard and not something that is/should be purposely bred FOR for the sake of rarity. With ANY Yorkie of any color, you can expect it to take a good year for them to start really developing their full, adult coat. However, just from looking at the pictures you posted, this dog seems to have a very wirey coat and I would seriously doubt that the pooch will ever have a long, flowing, smooth coat. |
Welcome to YT, |
Hi and welcome, glad you decided to post . He looks like a yorkie to me and a cute on too. |
First welcome to YT. I am in no way a Yorkie expert but I will give you my opinion. I have a very close friend who has a yorkie that looks almost identical to this one. I mean coloring and apparent hair texture (kind of hard to tell by picture). Anyway, her baby whom is the sweetest thing ever never gets long hair and for that reason as well as others we have come to the conclusion that she is not full blood. The great thing is that my friend and her family love her very much and wouldn't trade her for anything. On the other hand my friend obviously got scammed by the breeder. With that said I agree with Bamafan (who has tons more experience than I do) about being very cautious and certainly not paying to much. Otherwise I think the baby is super cute and I am sure he will make a great companion for your mom. Good luck and keep us posted. |
Just wanted to say Hi and welcome you to YT! |
Welcome to YT I'm sure you will find answers to all your questions here. I think the pictures you sent of the blonde are wonderful. If you are not planning on showing her or using her for breeding and are just looking for a wonderful pet, I would get her, but be cautious about the price. I have two yorkies, one I adopted from a rescue the other I bought. Pixie, the rescue, has a totally different coat than Rowdy. They are both full blood Yorkies though. Their coats are both beautiful. Rowdy's is more silky while Pixie's is coarser and more cotton. Good luck to you and your new one. |
Hello and welcome to YT :) What ever the case he sure it cute! |
Thanks so much everyone! I was looking at all your avatars...You all have gorgeous babies! I also looked up the member Julz, wow! Her golden Yorkie is stunning! I haven't picked up this Blonde Yorkie yet, I'm meeting the lady tomorrow....She says she is not the breeder, her daughter bought the pup from a breeder in OR, but now he is too aggressive with the other dogs in the house so they need to find him another home. He is not AKC, he is CKC, I don't know much about CKC though. He looks a lot like a Cairn Terrier to me.... |
I used to live in Oregon. Which area are you from? |
HI Judy, I'm on the coast in Netarts, just outside of Tillamook....Lots of rain here! But, we moved from the desert of WA, so the rain is wonderful, and we absolutely LOVE being able to hear the ocean from our house! |

Jancie -- Welcome to YorkieTalk. |
RMKC, Please let me know if you come out this way, I would love to meet someone from here and love to let my little ones play with their own kind. The cats don't do much for them, and I don't know anyone who has a Yorkie around here....Well, unless I get this one for my mom, or find one for her soon anyway.... |
1 Attachment(s) welcome to YT. My friend has a Yorkie who has a face with light hair and a body with a silver grey coat. and she is full Yorkie. I did not know that was a flaw. I have seen many like that. It is so pretty. I will try to post a picture. I hope your mom gets the pup and enjoys many years with him. He looks so pretty and loving. |
that pick tottaly looks like my Ziggy ! the one above my post |
1 Attachment(s) Hi and welcome to YT! Thank you for the compliment on my Golden girl Mercedes:) . The Yorkie you posted a picture of was not born with a color anomaly....the standards change color for quite some time as has been mentioned. The Dandi Dinmont Terrier is believed to be part of the Yorkie "ingredients". I will attach a picture of a mustard colored Dandi. Until goldens popped up in a litter of mine, I knew very little about color anomalys which are due to recessive genes. Yorkies come in "standard" colored, "Golden", "Chocolate", and "Parti". They can all be found here on YT:) . The color of the Yorkie you showed wouldn't be my top concern, it would be the disposition and health. If it is aggressive as you said, a person could run into many problems. Oh, I think I'm rambling too much....if only I could say it was my first time:rolleyes: . You can check out my Yorkie gang on my website (a very simple type, but I am working on a new one). I have 2 standards, a golden and a chocolate....I love 'em all!!! I hope this helped, even if only a little....:) |
I looked at the pics more closely (as I should have done the first time). I'd bet if you asked the owner what color he was as a pup they'd say black and tan. I can't explain the color that it is right now...even a red leg has the dark saddle. What is his cost if you don't mind me asking? |
Welcome to yt, He sure is a cutieee:) let us know if you get him;) |
The lady was going to to sell him to us for $350....Key word, WAS...She called me a little bit ago and told me that she was outside with him this afternoon and the neighbor's GSD came out and bit him. I guess he's in critical condition and they aren't sure that he's even going to make it at this point. I feel so badly all the way around, I feel horrible for puppy, horrible for his owner, and I feel pretty bad for the owner whose dog attacked....I feel horrible for my mom who has wanted a Yorkie forever and to come this close to finally getting one, and so excited, only now to come crashing down again...What a bummer for everyone. |
Oh my! So sorry to hear this!:( |

Thats HORRIBLE!!!! ...and the timing seems ... odd. If it really did happen, I sure hope the little fella has a full recovery. I know things like this happen....something just feel odd to me. |
Yeah, that was my first inclination also....I thought that maybe she saw my posts questioning if this was really a full Yorkie and got upset with me, but I hope not....well, that doesn't sound right either, then it would sound like I wanted the dog to get bitten and that's not right....I think you can get the gist of what I'm saying though....I hadn't changed my mind about getting him, I just wanted extra opinions.... I hope that the dog is fine, I pray that he will make a full recovery and be 100%!!! Thank you everyone! |
