I like your quote Janie16. Why are you trying to get a refund for a "size gaurantee"? Casual research before you spent your hard earned money would have shown you that it's not possible to determine the exact size of your dog. Personally, I find it hard to excuse a breeder that sells dogs that way, but I also find it hard to excuse a buyer that doesn't do some minimal research about what they are buying before plunking down serious cash. Btw, $1300 is a bargain for any Standard Yorkie where I live. :aimeeyork |
Maybe it's just me but why wouldn't she want her money back when it was only given because of a guarantee? She didn't pay $1,300 for a standard yorkie. She paid $1,300 on top of the price because this breeder told her it would stay a certain size. It doesn't matter about what, why or if she should have known better (add her to the huge list). She's been scammed and deserves that money back. |
The breeder I am getting my boy from (still nameless, lol) does not guarentee size, only health. That being said, puppies in this area are from 500-1000. Some may be more I guess, but thats what they are advertised for right now, with the most common being 550 and 750. The tinies are 1000. |
Romeo was only 450.00. Reason being, he didn't have all his shots. I got to visit with them for awhile and meet his sister and brother and mom and dad. Dad is 6 lbs and mom is 5lbs. The breeder was great. Got all my paper work. Matter of fact when we pulled in their yard me and hubby were greeted by these 2 little furballs in the driveway. So we picked them up and went and rang the doorbell. She comes to the door and says "Oh you already have 2. LOL. We said noooo they were in the driveway. She goes WHATTTT. Seems they found a little hole in the fence and got out. Lucky we came along. But neither one of them were Romeo. He was too little to get off the deck stairs. He was the runt. He is now 6 months and you would never know he was the runt. He weighs 5 lbs now and can jump hurdles LOL. |
I live in MA and I have never seen a yorkie for less then 1,500! Chewy was 1,600 and Sadie was 2,100. Sadie has a very good blood line and has show champions in her line so she was more. The breeder I got her from prices her dogs according to the line they have. I could have gotten a cheaper pup but I liked Sadie's parents the best so we spent the extra money on her. |

Average prices vary across the US. Female are going for about $800 while males can be as cheap as $500...for pet quality. |
My babies are priced the same no matter if they are a girl or boy going to be 1 ounce or 20 lbs ( never had any that big or small ) My babies generaly are 4-5 lbs and sometimes I sell them for 400 but I will not register them or 800 it just depends. I did sell a cute baby for 200 but that little girl was dang cute and won my heart and boy is she happy with her teapot. That kid paid me with 1 dollar bills and quarters,nickels and dimes but hey she saved all that money. As for size I know what my dogs will have and how big their babies will be but people that do not really know their lines will really not know what size their babies will be plus these breeders will never know their lines or what their dogs throw as they never keep any back or have contact with the babies they sell since money is the object not making friends. |

Lucy is 11 1/2 months and she just hit 4 lbs! I am thrilled as she stayed at 3.5for so long. I'm hoping for at least another pound :) My breeder would never give a guarantee of weight and the most he does is show you the parents for a "potential" of what a pups weight could be. And even that isn't such a true indicator. When I spoke to him a few weeks ago he mentioned that Lucy's brother is right at 7 lbs. so you just can't tell. I would love for Lucy to grow to 5 lbs. if possible and he said she may just get to that :) |
I bought my yorkie from a hobby breeder and I saw the mom and dad. The mom was about 5 pounds and the dad was a little smaller than that but my puppy at 8 months is at 6 pounds but he is beautiful and I really didn't want a small one because I have cats too. I have a Maine Coon cat that weights 23 pounds and you should see the puppy run and jump spread eagle on that cat and the cat never tries to hurt him he likes Gleason. Sorry I started rambling what I meant to tell you is that he cost $400. The girls cost $500. I got to see all her breeding couples and they were all beautiful. I'm even considering buying another one from her in another year or so. |
