Yorkie giveaway???? Wanted to get your thoughts on this. I know a breeder who is getting ready to give away a free male yorkie that is 8 months old. She said she has some conditions for this give away. Give me your thoughts on this as I don't know if it's right or wrong but I know she is doing this out of the kindness to all who have purchased from her to basically to show her appreciation. |
hmmm I think I would need more information.. but it sounds really sweet. ( I think:confused: ) |
that sounds odd...never heard of anyone doing something like that. i would ask a LOT of questions. an 8 month old pup, huh? just weird. I would be skeptical I think. but then again....I'm always skeptical LOL |
Wonder what the catch is? Be great if it was on the up and up. Joanne :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :dog: |
I know his only draw back is that he needs to be the only pet in the household as he is pet aggressive. And she wants him neutered. He is AKC registered. |
She probably wants him on a limited registration because if he is aggressive he shouldn't be bred... Probably only good for a no kids, no other pets household. |

Limited registration yes because who ever gets him would have to have him neutered. But he gets along with her adult children and grandchildren, so I would say he would be fine with children. Just doesn't get along with other pets. |
freebie Goodness gracious...I know lots of us breeders who have given away puppies...there can be all kinds of reasons. I had 11 female puppies one time and gave one away...I stopped counting a long time ago how many of my dogs went to free...sometimes it is just the right thing to do... I had an oversized boy, 4 months of age about 14 yrs ago..I told God if a family came along who wanted a big boy, they could have him...it wasn't a full 24 hrs, a woman called and said her family had been praying every evening at bed time for a puppy, they had $500, could I help her find a Yorkie...what do you think???? I told her to use the money for vet fees and neutering...Scooter lived until late last year..he had a wonderful life... When they came to get the puppy, the 9 yr old son told me he really did not think God would answer his prayer, but he was wrong! Whispermoms has given so many puppies and adults away over the years..I have lost count.. So it is not odd to my ears... |

There certainly are good people out there who in my thoughts just want to give something back if you know what I mean. And that's what she is going to do. She said God has blessed them and it's time to say thanks. I know of two other times she has given yorkies away for one reason or another. So it's is not strange for this to happen and I am glad you responded. |

It really does happen. We gave our little Princess (12 wks old & Jack's sister)to a co-worker of DH & it we told them the same thing, to use the $$ for vet fees. I also sent along a gift bag of food, shampoo, pee pads, toys, blankets, a yorkie book, my crate & yorkie yummies (thanks Cindy). Sometimes good things need to happen for good people. |

I would hope anyone would ask questions as I am sure she is going to ask plenty of questions before she decides as who to give the dog to. |

pat, you are right. Sometimes it is just the right thing to do!:) |
free AND....I have also received a few free ones myself...including Ch. Merricac's Katherine, a perfectly healthy. gorgeous bitch..free and clear, no strings or puppies back...there would be no Kate or Becca in my life without that generous gift... |
I just gave 2 of my young boys away this week-end. They didnt turn out for showing and I happened to find two of the most wonderful families over the week-end that were looking for a small dog. I had been hoping for quite a while that this would happen. They were friends of a friend as she told them about me. So far, so good!! The dogs seem to be adjusting well and the families just love them!!!:) So, "free or cheap" dogs are not unheard of without it being a scam. Its too bad though, that this is not always the case. |
I got a free Yorkie this past week. He's a nice little guy, maybe too big for some at around 8 or 9 lbs but he's a joy to me. He is about 3 and still getting used to his new home. This man had several Yorkies and one started marking and the man worked during the day and couldn't give him all the attention he needed. He is an attention hog and he gets it here with me. He's a smart little guy. We already have him high fiving. He hasn't yet figured out the potty plan but that will come with time. |
Yeah..there are so good hearted people out there. There is a lady here in TN. that's gives Yorkie pups away for Christmas presents each year. |
Sounds like this is a good thing my friend is going to do. But she said finding a good home might be rough. That's why she is going to ask plenty of questions and she wants references. But she wants him neutered at the new owners expense. She said she doesn't know if she should have this done and they pay for it before they get the dog or if she should trust them to have it done. |

I went to the flea market today, talked to a woman.. who had a beautiful yorkie.. I mean precious.. she just got him and paid 350.00 dollars for him. So this is two great stories twice in one day... God bless you for being such a kind person...that story chocked me right up when that little boy made that comment. |
There are still lots of good people outhere. Please make sure you ask the questions and that he is healthy. Other then that...Go with your feelings. |

Thanks everyone for you thought and for those who shared some heart warming stories. I don't feel allot of questions anymore for what she is going to do. I know she said she is posting him as a give away on her site. But who ever must qualify if that makes since. She said this way everyone out there has a chance to get a free yorkie. |

She is just trying to find him the RIGHT and PERFECT good home. She is a very nice lady and just loves her yorkies, as they are everything to her. So it has to be the right home or she will not let him go. |
Anyone know of anyone who is looking for a free male yorkie? If so pm me and I can give them this ladies info. |
